Today, genre-smashing singer, songwriter, and producer EthanUno unleashes “bruja,” a club cut that blends video game melodies, rave-worthy bass synths, and unabashedly flirtatious lyrics. Out now via Friends Keep Secrets / Interscope, the bilingual bop continues a prolific run of thrillingly kaleidoscopic singles for the San Diego artist following the release of his necesidad EP. Listen to “bruja” here and watch the lyric video here.
Playful and propulsive, “bruja” is an open call to the dance floor that finds EthanUno under the influence of heady potions, caught in the thrall of a fellow reveler: “Más alla de la luna, como tú no hay ninguna / Tonight you’re all I wanna do, now / Under your spell, tu eres una bruja.” He pleads his case over neon production — the track is pure fun, complete with a lyrical reference to Akon’s iconic carefree club anthem “Smack That.” The lyric video extends that energy, pulling footage from his recent set at Riverland Fest in Asturias, Spain.
Speaking on his latest single — which he wrote, produced, performed, and recorded entirely himself — EthanUno said, “‘bruja’ is a whirlwind of 2010s inspired dance and pop music all thrown into a pot and stirred up. The final production was done on a redeye from Madrid back to L.A. and I must have really had some time to kill, because looking back it’s kinda overcooked. But f---- it, sometimes there’s beauty to being extra.”
“bruja” follows July’s “ESPEJO,” a lovelorn aswirl of alt-pop, R&B, and indie electronics. Before that came May’s “EL CAPARAZÓN” — a breezy single that carries listeners from the bedroom studio to the packed club to the beach — and April’s reggaetón-inflected “MALA MÍA,” a heartbroken embodiment the happy-sad vibes that put EthanUno on the map. Melodic Magazine sat down with the young artist upon the latter’s release, sharing a chat that shed light on his DIY mentality and drive. As EthanUno put it, “I’m huge on capturing the entire feeling of the song and its release while it still feels fresh; it’s like serving food while it’s still hot.”
EthanUno’s other releases for 2025 (so far) include the February party-starter “phase 1” and, of course, the necesidad EP, featuring tracks like the pleading/pulsating “DQTC” and the lovelorn but bubbly “las mañanas” — more prime examples of his unique blend of hyperpop, R&B, Latin croon, and lo-fi dance. Other highlights among many from the past several months include tropical heater “quemar” — co-created with Happy Perez (benny blanco, Halsey, Miguel) — and “tattoo,” which hit playlists ranging from ET to Ones to Watch.
Older self-released EthanUno songs like “tu” and “pensando en ti” have picked up plenty of fans, too — some famous. “pensando en ti” got an early cosign from Frank Ocean, who played it on Homer Radio, and Rosalía included the buzzing cut on her Interview Magazine “Birthday Bangers” playlist last year. Meanwhile, EthanUno is growing an army of followers across social media who devour each confection he drops. With “bruja,” he proves that even his most seemingly carefree tracks are subtly expanding his sonic horizons.

About EthanUno
In EthanUno’s hands, even heartbreak can feel fun. Since breaking out in 2023, the singer and producer behind hyperpop torch songs “tu” and “pensando en ti” has cemented a signature vibe melding Latin pop crooning and kaleidoscopic SoundCloud experimentation. And while his lyrics skew melancholy, his production and neon color palettes jolt the senses like a sugar rush. His blends of nostalgia and futurism are amplified by a personal quest for connection to his Latino heritage. Music has been a lifelong constant for EthanUno, who was born in Houston, TX, in 1999 and began studying piano at six years old. After moving to San Diego, he found comfort in music and poured his solitude into beat production as early as age 10. In a few short years, his demos were blowing away his peers, and when he went off to college in New York City, a diverse and vivacious Latin American diaspora expanded his world of musical possibilities, which he later explored on a host of vibrant tracks he uploaded to SoundCloud. Throughout 2023, EthanUno got serious, dropping a tidal wave of singles, drawing the attention of Ambar Lucid and receiving an invitation to join the indie soul star on tour across 14 dates. He's since gone back into the studio working towards his upcoming EP. “It's a crazy whirlwind feeling,” says EthanUno, looking back on an ascendent trajectory. “I want to keep getting better every single day.”
