“...an 80s-inspired cut laced with funky guitars and their signature post-punk bite.”

“...a sort of new wave conflation of Yello’s ‘Oh Yeah’ and Talking Heads’ ‘Burning Down The House’, marrying the former’s scattered, hardware midi propulsions with the latter’s jutting polyrhythms and booming vocal chants.”

New York City electronic post-punk band Public Circuit today releases their next single “To The Grave.” A slice of melancholic electro-pop from their upcoming record Modern Church, the album will be released in full on September 12 via à La Carte Records. “To The Grave” intensely twinkles and crashes as the band reels against the parts of themselves they refuse to push back down — Stream

The band shared, “Life is frail – Many people live a life where they never fully resolve trauma, hatred, etc., and, therefore, take it to the grave with them. Whether it be childhood trauma, gender expression / exploration, or failed romances; this song is inspired by moments left unresolved or, otherwise, unspoken.”

Like a glitched out home video, the “To The Grave” official visual sees the band quite literally digging their own graves, while employing their signature Medieval elements throughout — Watch

Earlier this month, the band announced their second LP with the release of “Samson.” Taking aim at fragile masculinity, the song was named after the character of Abrahamic mythology known for superhuman strength and a betrayal that led to his downfall. The single received early nods from Notion, Hard of Hearing, Soundvsystem and more.

This coming Fall, the band will set out on their newly announced tour of the US and Europe. While in Berlin, they will join the lineup of 8mm Festival alongside A Place To Bury Strangers and Snapped Ankles. And in the Netherlands, they will play Left Of The Dial festival. ABOUT PUBLIC CIRCUIT:

If electronic music is sacred theology, New York City band Public Circuit are the pagan heretics driving the genre forward with an indomitable will to live. After joining forces in early 2023, Ethan Biamont, Sean Holloway and Nelson Fisher will release their second album Modern Church on September 12 via à La Carte Records.

On Modern Church, NYC trio Public Circuit dismantle and reassemble post-punk with surgical precision. Gone is any pretense of retro revivalism—what remains is something sharper, darker and entirely their own. With a newfound sense of collaboration amongst all three members, this is a record that dances in the flicker of candlelight and fluorescent glare alike, channeling an austere pulse of angular electronic instrumentation, and raw percussive rhythms all bathed with the high-gloss ache of sophisti-pop into a sound that’s equal parts ritual and revolution.

The album is overtly religious in theme; an analogical tool to explore sexual identity, the fleeting faith of society, and the illicit repercussions of unresolved trauma. Public Circuit is deeply influenced by NYC’s constant feed of noise and bustle the city delivers. Channeling these pensive emotions into explosive energy, the band commits to live up to the historical behemoth of NYC music as their sphere of influence continues to expand.

Following the release of their debut album in 2024, the band took Lamb to the road with sold-out shows across 30 states including festival performances at New Colossus, Hopscotch and MACROCK. They’ll continue to spread their gospel this coming Fall in both the US and Europe; playing at Left of the Dial in the Netherlands and 8mm Festival in Berlin.
