Today, San Diego’s sullvn releases their brand new single “Rooftop.” Kicking in with the horn section at the forefront, the upbeat and full-bodied offering expresses the all-consuming elation of a new love. Singing of feeling so high that you can’t come down, the lyrical excitement is perfectly matched by the energy the band brings to the track — Stream.

Led by Robert “Sully” Sullivan, the ever-changing collective is built up of what Creative Executive Lens dubbed “a sonic melting pot of elite players.” The current lineup includes the GRAMMY-nominated bassist James East (Lionel Richie, Toni Braxton, Eric Clapton), the dynamic drummer Tres “Sojourn” Hodgens, globally renowned saxophonist Tomoka Nomura-Jarvis (Andy Grammer, Rob Wave, Fat Joe), and many others. A Southern California party in sonic form, sullvn breaks the mold as they soundtrack everything from a windows-down joyride to a swanky night at the lounge.

“Rooftop” was produced and co-written by Rome Ramirez, known for his work with Sublime with Rome, Selena Gomez, Dirty Heads, Enrique Iglesias and more, during a writing trip in Nashville. Hitting it off naturally, Ramirez has a hand in much of sullvn’s releases this year.

Sully shared that, “This track is pure upbeat adrenaline and heart. It’s about those late-night moments that feel like they could last forever — dancing under stars and falling hard for someone who makes you feel a certain way.”

Last month, the band released their first single of the year, the irresistibly groovy track “The Fighter.” The song boasts a modern pop sound, backed by a full band that calls back to decades past. sullvn plays into tactful innuendo as they tell the tale of the age-old pairing of a lover and a fighter.

Throughout the year, sullvn will be spending time out on the road bringing the joy of their live shows to more cities. Already in 2025, they’ve opened for The Wailers before playing at BeachLife Festival in Redondo Beach, CA. Next week, they will play at Fiesta Del Sol in Solana Beach, CA, and later this summer they join the lineup of Bourbon & Beyond in Louisville, KY. Keep up with all sullvn live dates here

ABOUT SULLVN

A fresh take on retro soul, California band sullvn blends classic grooves with modern pop energy to create a vibrant sound that's seemingly nostalgic of 60s soul music with a contemporary groove. The ever-changing collective lights up stages and gets crowds moving at every show.

sullvn's soul-powered debut single “Liars” sets the tone, introducing listeners to their bold, revitalizing sound. Hot on its heels, the band’s release, “Oh California,” is a heartfelt ode to the Golden State. Wonderland Magazine states “sullvn expertly blends classic soul with vibrant contemporary pop elements, creating a rich, dynamic sound that feels both nostalgically familiar and refreshingly modern." They released their debut EP November 8th, Love and Lies which explores the complexities of relationships, particularly the tension between honesty and deception, with love ultimately winning in the end. The EP includes previous releases, “Liars,” “Oh California,” “Namaste,” and “All About You.” In 2025, the band is rolling out new music all while playing festivals like BeachLife and Bourbon & Beyond.
