October 24, 2025 - Today, Tulsa-based band Keyland, led by singer and songwriter Kyle Ross, returns with new Stand Up To You EP via One Riot, a six-song EP that threads together heartbreak, humility, and hard-won hope. Ross crafts songs that are as personal as they are universal- blending elements of roots, rock, and country into something he simply calls “American music.”

“The whole Keyland project has always been about making music with and for the people I love,” Ross says of the new music. “I just want to make songs that feel like home.”

Anchored by the searing title track “Stand Up To You,” the song captures the tension between strength and surrender: love as both an anchor and a storm. With its bruised honesty and wide-open soundscape, it sets the tone for an EP that feels like dusk on the plains: warm, reflective and a little bit restless.

Ross reflects on the track: “It’s like when you just can’t bring yourself to saying no to someone you love (or think you do). It’s that space of being at their mercy and wondering if that is a good thing or not.”

Across the EP, Ross moves between grit and grace with effortless authenticity. He opens with “Stand Up to You,” a nod to classic rock and roll - a loose, bar waltz drinking song inspired by The Rolling Stones and Faces. “Double Dip” follows an all-out, high-energy rock track that captures the thrill of letting loose. “If You Please,” the only song recorded in Nashville, offers a sweet, acoustic singalong, celebrating the beauty of simplicity and imperfection. “Settle In,” recorded live at Sonic Ranch in El Paso, is a laid-back, introspective track that feels like a gentle exhale, a quiet prayer for patience and peace. On “Half an Hour,” Ross delivers his most stripped-back and reflective moment, exploring temptation, regret, and the tension between faith and human weakness. The EP closes with “Winstons,” the oldest track in the collection, a reflective ode to resilience and perseverance, featuring expressive drumming from Ramsey Thornton and inspired by Tulsa songwriter John Moreland.

Produced and mixed by Sam Westhoff and recorded at the Sonic Ranch, the Stand Up To You EP features an ensemble of Tulsa collaborators, including Ramsey Thornton, Sam Bowling, Cash Jackson, Isaac Stalling, and Jacob Hunter. Mastering was handled by Joe Causey at Voyager Mastering.

This past summer Keyland was asked to join Sierra Ferrell on tour for her Oklahoma City show. They then continued with a hometown show in Tulsa at Cain’s Ballroom opening for the Josh Abbott Band and had a string of shows supporting American Aquarium and Paul Cauthen alike.

Following the spring 2025 EP Too Tuff and 2023 full-lengths Growin’ Pains and Sundress & Shade Trees, Keyland continues to refine a sound rooted in honesty, heart, and the everyday poetry of blue-collar life. Their influences - from The Band to Chris Stapleton, Wilderado, and Tyler Childers - echo through the music, but Ross’s voice remains distinct: weathered, sincere, and defiantly hopeful.
