DEAN FORD RELEASES NEW EP DREAM FEVER
Today, rising pop-rock artist Dean Ford has released his new EP Dream Fever. The formation of the 6-track EP began out of a need for creativity and excitement for Dean as he expanded on his sonic exploration, combining classic 80s synth-pop and rock. Resulting in his most cohesive project yet, the project finds Dean detailing the different kinds of love found throughout life’s journey: the hopefulness and infatuation you feel at the beginning of something new, the realities that set in when the rose tinted glasses come off, the power struggles that can manifest, and everything in between.
“This EP shares the same DNA as my previous work while feeling more developed, fleshed out, and a real step up. It feels like a natural progression for me and my catalog while going bigger than I’ve ever done,” shares Dean. “I’ve learned that once I’ve created and released something, it no longer belongs to me and that’s one of the things I appreciate about art. It takes on a life of its own, independent of my intentions and completely unique to everyone who engages with it, and I hope this project does just that.”
Co-written and produced by studio wizard Bleu (Demi Lovato, Jonas Brothers, Michelle Branch), Dream Fever further elevates the vibrant and effervescent sound Dean is best known for as he speaks to the emotional ups and downs that occur in any relationship as well as the overall effect we have on one another. Focus song, “If I Only Knew,” characterizes the initial spark of an attraction in bloom and follows latest single “Electromagnetic,” an electronic-tinged track that delves into the feeling of finding your way back to the one you love against all odds. The EP also features dance-pop single “CRZMKR” which describes the casualties of being in a relationship with someone who manipulates others by putting them in lose-lose situations and lush tune “VHS” where Dean reminisces on memories of the past while longing for the potential the future can bring. First creating music at 15, Dean always saw himself becoming a performer and did just that. The Maine-based multi-instrumentalist and songwriter took inspiration from legends such as David Bowie, Freddie Mercury, Madonna, and James Brown — artists who were bigger than their music, personas, and cultural markers all unto themselves — when developing his sound throughout the years both on and off the stage. Dean has gone on to release two earlier projects, 2012’s Ctrl and 2015’s Get Messy, along with a string of singles as a solo artist in addition to captivating audiences around the country with his Prince tribute band, Dean Ford and the Beautiful Ones. Inspired by the isolation of the pandemic, which kept him from the stage where he feels most at home, Dean is excited now more than ever to share this next chapter with fans everywhere.
The fuse is lit for an explosive year of new music for Dean and Dream Fever is only the beginning.
