This new song captures the disorienting experience of grief, where the world seems indifferent to your pain, continuing as if nothing has changed. The track channels this inner turmoil, aiming to make the listener feel as though something is igniting—a metaphorical blaze fueled by the pent-up emotions that loss often brings.

The track opens with heavy, driving guitar riffs that immediately set a tense, almost combustible atmosphere. The guitars, layered with distortion and power, convey a sense of urgency as if something within is on the brink of explosion. This intensity is amplified by the presence of haunting choral arrangements, which rise and fall throughout the track like waves of emotion. The choruses add a sense of grandeur and drama, as if voices from the depths are echoing the inner turmoil of someone on the edge.

"Setting The Night On Fire" stands as a testament to Santiago Abad's ability to convey complex emotions through instrumental music. It’s a track that captures the essence of loss, anger, and the chaotic beauty of letting go, all without uttering a single word. Through its intense musical arrangements and dynamic shifts, the song invites listeners to experience a journey of destruction and renewal, echoing the primal act of setting the night ablaze. The track's finale leaves the listener with a sense of release, as if the fire has burned away the pain, leaving behind a feeling of emptiness, but also of peace.

The creation of "Setting The Night On Fire" was heavily influenced by literature, drawing inspiration from a range of profound works. Uncommon Addiction found resonance in R.F. Kuang's Babel, a novel that explores themes of power, language, and rebellion. Similarly, John Milton's Paradise Lost, with its epic exploration of loss, defiance, and the fall from grace, provided a thematic backbone for the song. Maggie O'Farrell's Hamnet also played a crucial role in shaping the song. The novel’s portrayal of grief and the fragility of life offered a deeply personal lens that influenced the track.

Producer Santiago Abad recorded with frequent collaborators Pablo Amador (Drums and Bass) and Ula Wordaz (Recording Engineer) at ZigZag studios in London.
