Kanadia have released their brand new single ‘Slide Off The Earth’, the latest song to be taken from their forthcoming album The Fire That’s Tearing Through Our Home out on September 26th.

‘Slide Off The Earth’ is a beautifully dark indie rock track reminiscent of the likes of The Jesus and Mary Chain and Echo & the Bunnymen with its pensive rhythm and reverberating slide guitar alongside the haunting and wide-reaching vocals of frontman, guitarist and songwriter James Bettis.

Regarding the single Bettis says, “‘Slide Off The Earth’ ended up setting the tone for the whole album. The minute I wrote it, I knew I wanted Chris Barker—who’s worked with Willie J Healey and Premium Leisure—to produce it. That choice really shaped everything, pushing us towards a more roomy, real, and raw sound.

The song has this big, open, desert-y slide guitar vibe that’s pretty different for me. I’m really proud of how the melodies and vocal harmonies come together—it feels like we’re stepping into something new with this one.

The song’s about wanting to just walk away from it all—quitting the daily grind and disappearing with my wife, who’s also my best friend. It’s that feeling of being fed up and ready to let everything go. The second verse digs into the darker stuff—feeling let down, weighed down by life, and wondering if there’s more out there. It’s a tight, well-crafted song with lots of space to breathe, and it really captures what the rest of the album’s about.”

The forthcoming album The Fire That’s Tearing Through Our Home is the third album from the Oxford alternative rock band completed by Melissa Marshall (synth/keys), Tim Lucas (drums) and Everton Barbato (bass).

Together they have created a record which showcases an abundance of dreamlike rich soundscapes, massive hooks, and haunting melodies throughout its expansive 50-minute journey examining the fragility and beauty of human emotion. Lyrically it finds Bettis soul-searching about his place in life, reflecting on the past, the present and the unknown while dealing with severe anxieties.

Kanadia have recently treated audiences to songs from the forthcoming album live on their recent UK tour with Black Foxxes. They now have a hometown album launch show announced at O2 Academy Oxford on September 5th with more live dates to follow soon. Tickets can be found at https://www.kanadia.band/gigs
