Morgana Shares Intimate New Song 'Sidekick'
MORGANA
SHARES AN INTIMATE PORTRAIT OF FRIENDSHIP ON
“SIDEKICK”
(June 23, 2026) - Irish artist Morgana’s brand new single ‘Sidekick’ arrives at a time when her stock is well and truly on the rise: 2026 has already seen an appearance on national television in Ireland, a sojourn to Brazil to play in an Amazonian opera house and a personal invitation from indie legends Snow Patrol to open for them on a series of huge outdoor shows this summer (most recently in Liverpool on Sunday). Her last single, the operatic “Fix Your Heart For Free”, won plaudits from Nialler 9, The Thin Air and RTE 2FM in her home country, and earned her comparisons to the likes of Aldous Harding and St. Vincent.

Morgana’s long-awaited debut album, The Whole Thing Was Very Very Emotional, (featuring both these singles), is scheduled for release on 25th September 2026.
Written for the people who have shaped her life, ‘Sidekick’ began as a tribute to childhood friends who spent their days making music videos together and imagining bigger worlds for themselves. It grew into something wider: a portrait of the friendships that carry us through our worst moments, celebrate our best ones, and sometimes become so intertwined with our identities that the lines between support, dependence and love begin to blur.
"Sidekick was written for my closest friends," Morgana explains. "It's about the ones who're there for you when you're at your lowest ‘dying on your feet’ and highest ‘coming up too hard’ and everything in between ‘making sandwiches’. It's about feeling so close to someone that you feel entitled to every part of them. It's about not being able to communicate your love but feeling it so intensely. It's also about screaming for any team except for England. It's for the underdogs and the desperate to be loved."
That tension sits at the heart of the track. Built around synth-pop textures, restless rhythms and moments of release, ‘Sidekick’ moves between intimacy and unease, never settling in one place for too long. Morgana's songwriting balances theatrical instinct with sharp emotional detail, creating a sound that is experimental and slightly off-centre.
Over the past two years, Morgana has steadily developed a reputation as an exciting and adventurous live performer - before releasing any music she had already sold out shows in New York, London and Dublin, supported CMAT across North America and Europe and opened for Dermot Kennedy. Those experiences have sharpened her confidence and expanded the scale of her vision, qualities that are increasingly evident in her recorded work.
With ‘Sidekick’, Morgana moves into a new phase of her artistry. As she continues to push her sound into more ambitious territory, it offers a glimpse of what comes next.
More on Morgana…
In the last 6 months Morgana has performed in the heart of the Amazon, at Paris Fashion Week and live on RTE's Late Late Show. Before releasing any music she had already supported CMAT across North America and Europe and opened for Dermot Kennedy. Morgana's momentum is undeniable. Her recent single I’m Not Going Anywhere hit 100k streams in just two weeks and her Other Voices St James’ Church performance selected for broadcast on BBC4, ahead of sold-out headline shows in Dublin and London.
Praised by Una Mullally in Irish Times as “a hugely sensitive performer… you can feel the 10,000 hours behind her,” Morgana brings a voice that stops rooms.
She first gained attention co-founding Saint Sister, whose journey included opening for Robbie Williams, Keane, Tori Amos, Hozier and The National, plus a spellbinding NPR Tiny Desk Concert. With millions of streams and a devoted following, Morgana’s next chapter is a solo journey into kaleidoscopic popstar-dom. Her music is a mantra: prepared to party, ready to cry. Fans of CMAT, Kate Bush, Sharon Van Etten, and Chappell Roan will fall in love with Morgana’s technicoloured, tearful disco.
