SUSIE MILLS
SHARES NEW SINGLE
“SEVEN SHADES OF BLUE”
(October 24, 2025) - Bath-based singer-songwriter Susie Mills returns with “Seven Shades of Blue,” a song that captures the quiet poetry of life moving forward — how endings and beginnings often overlap, and how colour, memory, and love linger long after people are gone. The single is available now on all major streaming platforms via APOLLO Distribution.
Warm, wistful, and deeply human, “Seven Shades of Blue” blends delicate folk textures with soulful, cinematic pop tones, held together by Mills’ instantly recognisable voice — soft yet powerful, intimate yet expansive. The song unfolds like a memory revisited: acoustic guitar and subtle piano chords shimmer beneath layered harmonies that feel both comforting and haunting.
“This song is about the passage of time and the shifting of generations,” Susie shares. “Both my grandmas had recently died, marking the end of the older generation, while my sister was expecting the first of the new one. I began writing the lyrics on what would have been my Nanna’s birthday, drinking coffee out of a bowl like she used to and wearing one of her blue jumpers — blue was her favourite colour, and that image inspired the lyric ‘seven shades of blue.’”
In “Seven Shades of Blue,” Susie captures the bittersweet intersection between grief and renewal — where sorrow softens into acceptance, and memory becomes its own kind of inheritance. The song’s title becomes a metaphor for emotion itself: the spectrum of sadness, love, and gratitude that defines growing up and letting go.
Already a favourite on BBC Introducing in the West, Mills has earned consistent praise for her arresting voice and thoughtful songwriting:
