On June 26th, Florida Nu Emocore band GILT will release their new album, I Saw Myself In The Black Screen, through Smartpunk Records. The band’s sound hits like 00’s alt-rock nostalgia from Limp Bizkit to Deftones to Thursday merged into a blender with a Myspace-era scene kid and turned into visceral, modern output. Having already shared the crushing single and video “Seattle Day 2,” and the heavy shoegaze leaning "How Do You Kill An Angel, Barry?,” today GILT deliver a whirlwind double single "Spit Out Into A Ditch..."/ "...On The Side Of The New Jersey Turnpike.”

The two songs and videos connect, leading listeners on a sonic and visual journey through GILT’s genre melding approach and vocal duality.

As vocalist and guitarist Tyler Fieldhouse shares:

“‘Spit Out Into A Ditch…’ is a no-frills screamo track that I wrote, reimagining the tragically passed Ian Curtis (Joy Division) as a spirit of vengeance, finding new purpose in taking a Killdozer approach to a world that turned his art into commodity. The title of the song comes from what happens after you finish taking control of the title character in ‘Being John Malkovich,’ a film that also explores forcing yourself on the world instead of giving up on your life, for better or worse.

‘...On The Side Of The New Jersey Turnpike’ was written by Asha and weaves a droning nu-metal 1-note-riff with classic metalcore. “Why play dead when you can play God” actualizes into a first-person power fantasy of violently dismantling power structures.”
