Jersey Girl is finally out, hear Jessie Baylin new album and her performance on Kelly Clarkson show

Today, singer-songwriter Jessie Baylin released her stunning, highly-anticipated fifth studio album Jersey Girl via Missing Piece Records/Blonde Rat. The album is available via all DSPs as well as a limited vinyl run HERE.

In celebration of her new album, Jessie made stops at high-profile TV shows debuting a mesmerizing rendition of “Time Is A Healer” on the Late Late Show With James Corden (watch here) and a dazzling performance of “That’s The Way” on The Kelly Clarkson Show (watch here). Press have been raving about the album with Consequence noting “Time Is A Healer” “feels like it was pulled out of a 1970s daydream.” Rolling Stone dubbed the album’s lead single, “That’s The Way” “flowy and nostalgic.” The artist has been praised for her talent throughout her career. On her previous albums, NPR has hailed Baylin’s “stunningly thoughtful tenderness” and “magnetically elusive” sound, while Rolling Stone has praised her “spacey kind of Dixie soul,” and the New York Times T Magazine declared that her “lush, slightly nostalgic” delivery “recalls big, warm AM radio singles, as well as soulful female vocalists like Dusty Springfield and Nancy Sinatra.”

“This album’s journey began four years ago with the support of trusted friends, family and collaborators,” says Baylin. “There were no deadlines, no rush to hurry, or finish. This moment now feels like a rebirth for me - both as an artist and as a woman. I’m thrilled that it is finally out in the world.”

Baylin will take the album on the road with intimate album release shows in Nashville, TN (9/23), Brooklyn, NY (9/29) and Asbury Park, NJ (10/1). Find more information on tour dates HERE.

Born and raised in small-town New Jersey, Jessie Baylin left the Garden State as soon as she could, attending art school in Manhattan and then moving to LA for a stint before ultimately settling in Nashville, where she would solidify her a reputation as a supremely gifted writer and performer with a knack for finding the beauty in moments of darkness and doubt.

Written and recorded with GRAMMY-winning producers Daniel Tashian and Ian Fitchuk (Kacey Musgraves, Birdy), the album is Baylin’s first release since the passing of her longtime collaborator Richard Swift and marks a new chapter for her songwriting of exploration and reckoning. The songs feature her signature vocals and vintage, breezy sound that follow the singer on a journey of self-discovery and cautionary tales.

Baylin created the new album after a break from music. “I had to write myself back into existence,” says Baylin when speaking of the album. “I’d been feeling lost, empty, unsure if I’d ever make music again, and I think this album came along to remind me of who I really am, of who I could still become.” Jersey Girl is a reflective body of work, which as the title suggests, finds the singer embracing her roots. Says Baylin, “There’s this Isadora Duncan quote that I carried with me through everything. She said, ‘You were once wild here. Don’t let them tame you.’ And so I wrote the album from that place, with that intention of embracing my roots and all the pieces—no matter how messy, no matter how wild—that make me who I am.”
