#Live: Bleachers back in the studio...we mean Michigan

We caught up with Bleachers as they embark on the second leg of their world tour behind their newest, critically acclaimed album, Everyone, for ten minutes. They will be performing at Michigan Lottery Amphitheater at Freedom Hill

It’s been a moment for us personally, and if you were there, you were too. Picture this: clear skies, a warm night, seventy degrees with a light breeze, and a packed amphitheater ready to spend the night with Bleachers. Fans who have been with Bleachers since the Charlie and Jack do America tour, and those who saw their tour a few years ago, found a great spot for a weeknight show. The night started out with This is Lorelei, a personal favorite of ours.

We joked about it earlier, but the setup for the Bleachers tour was frankly that. It was as if you were walking into a large studio layout, catching the band practicing for a tour. Decorations nodded to the late sixties and early seventies, and neon tub lights on each side slowly warmed up as the intro music of Sintra’s I Did It My Way kick-started the show. In the glowing atmosphere, the band emerges from the corners of the stage, and Jack heads up to the top floor, getting right into the intro of Sideways before coming down to the main floor for The Van and Modern Girl. The horns kick in towards the end of Jesus is Dead to the swear allegiance of their band banner drops revealing “Bleachers Forever” as they officially got to business.

Playing music from their latest album, Everyone, for ten minutes, along with past favorites, the night was exactly how we wanted to spend the last summer night here in Michigan. They still have a few more shows left in the state before they head off to Europe for the rest of the leg.

Tickets are available via Ticketmaster. $1 from each ticket sold will benefit The Ally Coalition, which is committed to supporting LGBTQ+ youth.
