Introducing: SYD TAYLOR! Announces Debut Album 'After the Fact' out June 25

SHARES TITLE TRACK
Detroit-born, Los Angeles-based singer, songwriter, model and producer Syd Taylor is on a journey of self-discovery, launching her solo career after 10 years in Stereo Jane with twin sister Emilia Paige. Today, she announces her self-produced debut album After the Fact out June 25, representing a life changing experience for Taylor as she further explores her identity, claims her voice and practices honesty within the spiraling feeling of isolation. “After leaving the band, I knew I had to figure out who I was—not just as an artist, but as a person,” she says. “For so long, I was focused on making other people happy, and in doing that, I’d never really made anything that was fully for me. That disconnect led to music that didn’t feel personal, so I gave myself the time and space to change that.”
On the album’s title track released also out today, Taylor finds confidence in her voice over the empowering guitar-driven production. “This song is one of my favorites on the album. I feel like it fully embodies who I am, which is why I ended up naming the whole project after it,” she says of the song. “The confidence I had while making it is the same confidence that made me want to write and produce an entire album by myself.”

More on Syd Taylor & After the Fact…
Syd Taylor's debut solo LP, After the Fact, emerged after a three-month period of intensive creation in her Los Angeles apartment. This marked a departure from her lifelong collaboration with her twin sister in their band, a change that compelled Taylor to explore her individual identity as both an artist and a person. Having spent years prioritizing others, she dedicated herself to creating something truly personal. This introspection fueled the rawly honest lyrics of After the Fact, an album entirely written and produced by Taylor as she discovered her unique voice and gained newfound confidence. “It’s the first time I’ve been able to sit down and make something truly for me. No one telling me what genre to lean into, what producer to hand my demos to, or even how to present myself. I know I’m not perfect, so why pretend to be some perfectly polished pop version of myself? I wanted to get as far away from that as possible. And in doing that, I made something that feels perfect to me — which is imperfect.”
