NEW YORK (May 22, 2025) – After beginning his new musical era earlier this month with the release of “loveseeking,” the first single off his forthcoming EP “Darling Kiss Louder,” NYC-based singer, songwriter, producer, and performer D.K. Lyons returns today with the song’s official music video inspired by Chappell Roan’s “Red Wine Supernova (Magician’s Cut).”
"The state of music right now is really embodied by badass artists like Chappell Roan. She has everything from catchy hooks to amazing lyrics to a really great sound, and it really feels like she shows up authentically in everything she does,” Lyons shares. “‘Red Wine Supernova’ was an immediate favorite when I first discovered her album, and when I decided to model my videos for ‘Darling Kiss Louder’ off prominent women artists who dominated 2024, the magic themes in her video matching up with the use of the word magic in ‘loveeseeking’ was just such a no-brainer.”
An enchanting pop-rock anthem glistening with hope, “loveseeking” sees the multi-faceted artist beginning a post-breakup journey, searching for a way back to love while exploring the desire for fulfillment in romance and in life. The music video captures the gleaming sense of magic sprinkled throughout the song, supplying viewers with an infectious sense of optimism in a world overshadowed by negativity and fear.
“loveseeking” gives fans the first taste of the thought-provoking visual concept Lyons has developed for “Darling Kiss Louder,” which draws inspiration from Dante’s “Divine Comedy,” the seven deadly sins, the Dark Ages, and the renaissance that followed, tapping into modern-day consumerism, the world of social media, and influencer culture. “loveseeking” represents the deadly sin of greed, a theme challenged in the video’s storyline as the hero falls in love with a magician and together they take revenge on the bigots who cast shade upon magic and dreams.
As he continues to unveil his latest project, Lyons is preparing his second annual Gemini Ball, which will take place on June 18 at the famed NYC music venue The Bowery Electric. The night will see Lyons perform his music and celebrate the end of Gemini season with the Geminis in his band, and will also feature performances by Rami 411, Cherry Blue, and Dirt. Tickets are now available for sale here.
A true feminist and fierce defender of women’s rights, D.K. Lyons approaches music with his heart on his sleeve and keeps connection at the core of his work, all while tackling relatable topics such as love, hope, loss, and fear. He has built his career on one simple mantra: “laugh + dance + cry + repeat.”
