Los Angeles-based band badsoma will release their self-titled EP on November 14 (pre-order). Today, the band is sharing their new single, “A Little Goes,” which debuted today at Magnet Magazine and is on all streaming platforms for playlist shares.

On the song, the band's Armin Fard says:

“'A Little Goes,' which was primarily written by Donny, is one of the first original songs we learned as a band. In many ways it set the tone for this EP and for badsoma’s early sound as a sextet. It pushed us to play more openly, and to listen to the nuances of each other’s playing styles as we worked on it. And in the end, it became a kind of sonic anchor for the rest of the songs on the record.”

“A Little Goes” follows the release of the EP's lead single “Coffee Pot” which debuted last month at It's Psychedelic Baby Magazine and is on all streaming platforms now.

Formed in the wake of LA’s post-pandemic underground scene, badsoma began as the solo project of Iranian-American multi-instrumentalist and songwriter Armin Fard before transforming into a six-piece indie rock outfit defined by collaboration and shared vision. What started as one songwriter’s outlet quickly grew into a dynamic collective—one where each member’s voice and perspective helped shape the sound.

With the forthcoming EP, badsoma expand their scope, blending personal narratives with social and political undercurrents. Every member contributed to the writing, underscoring the band’s ethos: collaborative to its core, environmentally and politically conscious in its subject matter, and unafraid to blur the boundaries between the intimate and the universal.

While early songs such as “Coffee Pot,” “On a Brazen Day,” and “A Little Goes” were written before the current lineup came together, each track was reconstructed and reimagined in the context of the band. With Armin and percussionist Braden Rose at the helm as producers, the group worked to transform initial ideas into fully realized pieces. The bulk of the EP was recorded at MooseCat Recording in Los Angeles, with additional production and overdubs completed at Armin’s home studio in Long Beach, where the band experimented with mixing strategies designed to capture the immediacy and drama of their live sound.

The band’s lineup took shape organically. Guitarist Starlit, who studied with Braden at the Conservatory for Recording Arts and Sciences in Arizona and whose background in blues collided with a newfound passion for guitar, found a creative home in LA shortly after relocating. She and Braden brought in longtime friend Donald Segien, a fixture in the local scene and bass player with a reputation as both a musician and a mixology legend.

As the band began playing local gigs, the lineup expanded. In 2024, they welcomed violinist Lindsey Hamilton, whose string arrangements added a lush new dimension, and guitarist Ana Léon, who brought fresh textures and energy to complete the current six-piece formation.

The self-titled EP follows badsoma’s 2022 release, Kicking and Screaming, created with collaborators Sarrah Wolfeand Koosha Hakimi. That EP debuted at #134 on the NACC Top 200, with the track “burn out” climbing to #2 on KCSB’s Hit List within weeks of release. The band quickly found support from college and community radio stations across the country, an early sign of their resonance and staying power.

With the release of their self-titled EP this fall, badsoma continue to carve out their own space: a band that is as much about the collective as it is about the songs, weaving together stories, sounds, and perspectives into a voice that feels both timely and timeless.
