Today, one of the alternative-R&B renaissance’s most mature and vulnerable voices, Sylo, releases “So Familiar.” The second single from his forthcoming full-length project, starts out in his gently plucked signature style. But with the addition of a loungey piano, sultry horns, and a jazzy Latin twist, the Korean-Canadian artist allows the track to unfold into a much larger groove. Out now via The Orchard — Stream

Sylo describes the track as, “A paradox of wanting to care for someone so deeply yet knowing you can no longer do it.” The way he gracefully slides in and out of the song has never made the ending of a relationship feel more welcomed.

Today’s single arrives with an official video, shot in the swamps and streets of New Orleans. Directed by longtime creative collaborator Martin Klapperbein, Sylo brings his laidback nature to an airboat ride and Bourbon Street, filmed in a run and gun style — Watch.

At the end of February, Sylo released the project’s first single “Fall Into Me.” Thoughtfully plucking all the beauty from the mundane, Sylo wields a voice with the viscosity of honey, leaving his fingerprint of intimate care on every second of the song. Now at almost 200k streams, “Fall Into Me” saw support from Spotify’s R&B Weekly, New Music Friday Canada and Mood Ring, Apple Music’s New in R&B and Day One, along with many others.

Last year saw Sylo channeling undeniable intentionality into everything he did. With the release of his EP blanket, listeners got a trusted glance through the window of Sylo’s artistry, almost like a personal serenade. He then went on to make his SXSW debut and perform a COLORSxSTUDIOS session of “Mile End.” All this recent growth has helped to push his catalog to over 57M streams on Spotify alone. Over the coming months, fans can keep an eye out for plenty of new content from Sylo, leading into his next full-length project.
