Cathartic and honest, the release of Oliver Keaneās second EP marks a flagship moment in his progression. Lamenting life's challenges with his instinctive songwriting, the record is an emotive dose of alternative guitar anthems that will leave you feeling much lighter.
Sharing more Oliver explained; āThis EP was a long journey and each track was written at such a different part of my life, itās almost like a scrapbook of the last 3 years.ā
Focus track HEY is the result of a tumultuous time. Co-produced with Noah Terefe, the track is a chance to purge any unresolved frustrations away. Sharing more, Oliver explained; āI just wanted to get all my anger towards people that have treated me badly in one song. Iād never really written about anger, as I see it as a toxic emotion, but it just flowed out of me. At the core itās a toxic song and I wanted it to be as big as possible.ā
Today's new EP follows the release of āGive Me A Reasonā which fans were treated to at the start of last month. The dreamy, self-produced track is a warm moment on the EP and followed on from euphoric and infectious ROMEO which arrived in August.
The two tracks have warmed up audiences ahead of todayās drop, scooping support in the process from the likes of 1883 magazine who said his sound āconstantly pushes the boundaries of genreā whilst commenting that ROMEO goes ābeyond a love songā. Metal Magazine complimented āGIVE ME A REASONā and shared that Oliver āconsolidates himself with each new release as one of the UK's most exciting new prospects.ā BBC Introducing were also keen to support the track and invited him into the studio. Dean Jackson commented that Oliver's music ākeeps getting better and better and betterā.
M24 is a tender, retrospective moment on the record that touches on navigating incompatibility. Sharing more, Oliver said: M24 is about my first girlfriend, who I had quite a messy breakup with and I think we both held resentment towards one another. In reality, we didnāt work because we were both ācut by the same bladeā and struggled with our emotions, and itās finding the irony in the fact we hated each other for something we had in common.
