Heatwaves can't stop us with Day one of Mo Pop Music Festival

What a way to kick this weekend! The fans came. out in packs filled with ambition and energy as they make their mad dash to the front row of their favorite artist. For those, it was Wet Leg, and for others, it was Girl in Red, and for some, it was The Marias. But for all, the main act was pack to the brim for Glass Animals. Glass Animals kicked into overdrive and the party didn’t stop until they heard every song. If you are wondering, yes someone did bring a pineapple.

Glass Animals

Glass Animals

Returning Champs are back and this time they are taking center stage.

Mo Pop is known for no-repeat artists on their line-ups, something that made them unique amongst many festivals; decided to take a step into Dreamland and let Glass Animals takeover the night. Their first time at Mo Pop was back in 2016 as they open the night for Matt & Kim and G Eazy. Pineapples were in their heads then and now with Heatwaves still crushing the US’s Top 100, they found themselves back in Detroit to end the first night of Mo Pop. On that note: The song Heat waves just turned two yesterday. Memories of that night can be explained as a daydream, filled with dancing and singing. We couldn’t help ourselves as we too spent it with the crowd’s energy.

Dayglow

Dayglow

Due to scheduling conflict, Dayglow has stepped up to light to open for Glass Animals. A group that Taylor has been most excited to see this weekend. With song after song blowing up on Tiktok, it was only time that we would finally get to see Dayglow well glow up.

The Marías

Taylor’s sister would have destroyed her personal belongings if she didn’t cover The Marias. So you know their good if there are threats involved. Their latest CINEMA was written and produced entirely by María Zardoya and the producer and multi-instrumentalist Josh Conway – within their LA apartment. In performing the music, the duo is joined by their closest friends Jesse Perlman (guitar), Edward James (keys), Gabe Steiner (trumpet), and Doron Zounes (bass) to round out the band.

It wasn’t only just about the headliners, here are a few of our favorites from the first day at Mo Pop Music Festival.
