#Live: Fontaines D.C at the Magic Stick
Rainy days in Detroit call for a bit of energy shift, that is why we found ourselves at the Magic Stick for Fontaines D. C sold-out show. The night was filled with shouting, crowd surfing, and mosh pits, just what we needed to end the week. Talking with fellow fans of the band, we discovered that the band adds one new song off their latest album Skinty Fia to the setlist. Meaning that the previous show (Which was Chicago) didn’t get to hear one of their favorites off the new album. Making each show unique to each audience the band performs to. The audience varies with age making this group defined as age but we couldn’t help to notice that everyone was over six feet (The only odd sideline thought thing we noticed).
Fontaines, kicked the night with In AR Gcroithe Go Deo and we knew that we were in for a party. It wasn’t until Lucid that the pit started opening up for those ready to release the energy that was much needed. We did escape from the front row after Sha Sha Sha to enjoy the show from a distance. The songs we wanted to hear the most from them were Roman Holiday, Boys, and of course the song that kicked off the announcement of their new album, Jackie Down the Line. The last song of the night.
Skinty Fia, the latest from the band just came out a few weeks ago and has already become number one on UK Album Chart as well as Irish Album Chart. They also got the “Best Band in the World” trophy at the BandLab NME Award. Following all that success they also have appeared on Jimmy Fallon and a few other US shows to get the US crowd pump to see what’s in store. This tour is almost sold out and tickets are still available. If you haven’t had the chance to see their show, don’t wait.
