As Joey and Bren confess, “There’s a whole concept that we are imperfect as people, but I still have the capability to love and cherish someone,” “Dividends” is a tribute to that love and the growth, or dividends, that only come from facing our internal flaws as well as the inculpable hardships we all face as humans. Sonically, the record transcends the lyrics themselves with moments of stripped back raw acoustics and vocals that are then followed by delicately detailed production that personifies the growth/resolve that comes as a byproduct of tackling life’s lessons.

Acquaintances since childhood, Bren and Joey chose to room together at Vanguard University where they began to formulate the underbelly of their sound sharing their respective influences such as Frank Ocean, Tame Impala, Brockhampton, Current Joys, etc. It would be in their college dorm that they quickly cemented their bond further as friends and artists, formulating both a brotherly friendship and unique sound that we know today as DWLLRS.

“Dividends” is the latest entry in a ledger of independently released tracks that established the DWLLRS’ following right out of the gate in 2021, with their debut single “And Then We’ll Be Alright” (over 4.8 million Spotify streams and counting). The momentum kept up with the February 2022 release of “Float Throughout the Ceiling” (over 4.3 million Spotify streams).  “Blue Spirits” arrived in May and has massed over 4.7 million Spotify streams
