#RisingArtist: Departure, Grills, and Aliens. We chatted with Modern Original about their new life

Last year has been a wild ride for Modern Orginal members Josh Hogan and Andy Warren, from a sudden departure from the Mowgli’s to creating music together in a pandemic world via friend’s homes and limited studio spaces. The ride may have started last year but this year as started to see the highs of the adventure these two will be having. With the launch, a few songs are out right now, and more coming later this month we wanted to let you know about them before it they hit the ground running. So, we got the chance to chat with both of them about everything and went off on a few tangents here and there.

We chatted about the latest new song to be dropped via spacecraft. I’m an Ailen. Which has this very fun bouncy synth and hypnotic melodies. We had sudden feels of American Authors (Which they had been on tour with as a part of Mowglis back in 2014). Modern Original created this tantalizing and vibrant record all about embracing our own inner weirdo.

"I'm An Alien" is a song for anyone who has ever felt disconnected from society. The band confides, “It’s ok to feel disconnected, but it’s important to be honest with yourself. This is where the healing begins. The synth lead in the bridge is for the moment when you accept yourself for who you truly are."

More About them:
Modern Original is an alternative rock duo formed by singer/guitarist Josh Hogan and drummer Andy Warren. Members of the alt-pop band The Mowgli's, the two began writing songs during the 2020 lockdown, capturing their feelings, hopes, and the confusing ups and downs of that infamous year. Inspired by artists such as Tame Impala, Bleachers and Glass Animals but without any idea of genre or plan other than to make music they loved, they dove into everything from surf rock to sunny pop. Modern Original is reflective, positive, unfettered and honest - a response to a bleak time and a hope for a brighter future.
