Houston-bred Marcellus Juvann is opening up on his new poetic self-written and self-produced EP HARDHEADED, released now via 4th & Broadway & Island Records. Following the previous releases of “Hardheaded” and “Down” – two vastly different songs and visuals that serve as two sides to a grander story within the EP, Marcellus is opting for an intimate listening experience that tackles the everyday hardships of being who he is – a Black man, a father, and overall an artist. On his major-label debut, Marcellus says “this EP is about finding pride in being hardheaded as a complicated human being. I’m not here to encourage anybody or make optimistic music. The music I make is introspective. I’m here to make music that people chasing their own dreams can relate to and find solace in.” Influenced by the likes of Kid Cudi, the late great DMX and more, Marcellus Juvann shows no shortage of promise and talent as he works to master vulnerability in his own art - a telltale sign in every formidable artist to watch. ABOUT MARCELLUS JUVANN

With a penchant for delivering thought-provoking music that’s both raw and introspective, Marcellus Juvann, often referred to as ‘Cell’ is a multifaceted artist that examines the complexities of life. The earliest memory of music for the Houston-bred, Cleveland-born rapper was in church. His first time performing was by chance, rapping at a high-school talent show in place of his friend who suffered stage fright right before the show. To his delight, the crowd loved him. The energy from the performance would plant a seed that Cell would continue to water, releasing his debut project The Fall in 2015. After appearing on VH1’s 2017 series Signed, and receiving praise and valuable advice from Roc Nation’s Lenny S. and The-Dream, Marcellus has dropped two self-released projects, Everyone Lives in the End in 2018 and Keep Alive in 2019. Cell motivates while also touching on the internal struggles he faces while trying to be a better man, father, and son in a world that often challenges his morality and ability to do so.

“Making music for me is to serve a greater purpose, just speaking to people who lived a similar life to me,” Cell shares. “Perseverance, being told you can’t do something over and over again, now today, it’s geared towards people who need that extra lift and motivation.”
