Having just released his solo project Love Fame Tragedy’s second EP Five Songs To Briefly Fill The Void, as well as completing a seven-date UK tour, Matthew “Murph” Murphy, guitarist and lead singer of The Wombats, today announces the release of Live From SIR, Hollywood, a live session EP of selected tracks, out April 17th via Good Soldier Songs / AWAL Recordings. Recorded in October at the legendary Studio Instrument Rentals in Hollywood, which has welcomed the likes of Sting, Joan Jett and Nile Rodgers in the past, the EP will be released in two parts. 

The first half of the EP is out today, including live versions of the anthemic "Body Parts," originally premiered as Zane Lowe’s #WorldFirst on his Beats 1 show, the self-aware "Pills," which debuted on Annie Mac’s Radio 1 show, and latest single "Multiply," written with Bastille’s Dan Smith. "Multiply" comes accompanied by a live video of the session - watch here. 

Having debuted the project live at Reading Festival last summer, along with headline shows in the UK, Europe, Australia, and the USA, LA-based Murph has recently finished a full UK tour, which saw him play dates in Manchester, Birmingham, Bristol, and London. He returns to play Neighbourhood Weekender Festival on September 5th. 

Named after a seminal Pablo Picasso exhibition at the Tate Modern, Love Fame Tragedy is the debut solo project from The Wombats frontman Matthew “Murph” Murphy. His first EP I Don't Want To Play The Victim, But I'm Really Good At It, came out in September 2019. Featuring Pixies’ Joey Santiago, alt-J’s Gus Unger-Hamilton, Matt Chamberlain of Soundgarden, Lauren Aquilina and Maddi-Jean Waterhouse, it garnered widespread support from the likes of Zane Lowe, Annie Mac, NME, The Times and Metro. Outlast month, Five Songs To Briefly Fill The Void sees Murph bring in Eleanor Fletcher of Crystal Fighters, Jack River and, again, Maddi-Jean Waterhouse for part two of this most collaborative of solo projects.
