“OH! THE OCEAN” WORLDWIDE TOUR STILL UNDERWAY - NORTH AMERICAN LEG KICKS OFF OCTOBER 15 TICKETS HERE

The Wombats have announced the December 5 release of the extended version of their sixth studio album, Oh! The Ocean, via AWAL. It will feature the original tracklist plus a collection of new songs including ones recorded by John Congleton, offering fans a deeper dive into the sonic world the band built with the album.

Today they tease the release with a new single, “Holy Sugar” which was produced by Mark Crew (Greek Tragedy / Lemon to a Knife Fight / Turn) and marks the first taste of these new additions, showing The Wombats in their purest form.

Speaking on “Holy Sugar” The Wombats frontman Murph says: “It is definitely a tune that has a bit more sweat and swagger to it compared to the singles from OH!TO. I felt like it was maybe time to bring a bit of dirt back to the table.” Listen/share "Holy Sugar" here and watch the visualizer here:

The Wombats mammoth worldwide “Oh! The Ocean” tour continues with the band about to embark on the Australian run. The North American leg kicks off October 15 in Seattle and concludes November 14 in Boston. Along the way they will play at The Novo in Los Angeles on October 22 and Brooklyn’s Brooklyn Paramount on November 12. Following that the band head to The UK in December for the second leg of their arena tour where they’ll be visiting cities not covered in the first leg of their “Oh! The Ocean” arena tour earlier this year, which saw them play sold out shows across the country including London’s O2 (watch here). All shows are listed below and tickets are available here.

This summer, The Wombats brought Oh! The Ocean to life on some of the biggest festival stages, delivering standout performances at NOS Alive, Boardmasters (watch here), and Y Not Festival, as well as On The Waterfront - the band's biggest outdoor headline show to date in their hometown of Liverpool.

Since they emerged as leading lights of the late-‘00s indie rock scene with 2007 debut A Guide to Love, Loss & Desperation, Murph, bassist Tord Øverland Knudsen and drummer Dan Haggis have maintained an incredible upward momentum. 2011’s electro-flecked second album This Modern Glitch made them Top Ten regulars; 2015’s third Glitterbug saw them embraced by the TikTok generation, with “Greek Tragedy” a viral hit several times over. By 2018’s Beautiful People Will Ruin Your Life they'd stepped up to arenas and 2022’s Fix Yourself, Not the World consolidated their unstoppable rise with the band’s first Number One album, seeing them reach over 2.5 billion streams. Headline shows at Crystal Palace and The O2 followed amid the band’s biggest touring cycle so far, taking in arenas across the globe and culminating at Reading 2024, where the band headlined a rammed Radio 1 tent overspilling with crowds of 18-24-year-olds that remain their core audience twenty years into their career.

The extended version of Oh! The Ocean is a bold marker in The Wombats’ journey, propelling them further into an exciting new era.
