Rora and the Untamed, the new project of Aurora Nishevci and Nathen Durasamy, are pleased to announce their arrival with the single “Savage White Swan” and the news that their debut album Do You Like Me Now? will arrive October 9 via Island Records.
Bold and ambitious, as might be expected from two accomplished composers, Aurora and Nathen’s brand of electropop alchemy pairs earworm immediacy with a labyrinthine musical aptitude which reveals more with each listen.
“Ultimately this record is about our relationship to being artists.” Aurora and Nathen say of their debut album. “There’s this inner conflict of simultaneously wanting to be seen and not seen, wanting to be in the shadows and wanting to have the spotlight. It is about questioning ourselves as artists, our motivations, our affect and our relationships to people and to our careers.”

Do You Like Me Now? pulls inspiration from the historic and the personal alike. ‘Artisan Lover’ is informed by Greek Mythology, while Aurora & Nathen each imprint their own life experiences upon the album’s eponymous track; from the subliminal messaging fed to girls within a patriarchal society, to racial prejudices applied to people of color in the world of classical music.
Recognizable to many as The Last Dinner Party’s keytar-wielding multi-instrumentalist and contributing songwriter, Rora and the Untamed marks Aurora’s first foray to the front of the stage.
Outside of his work in film and television composition, British-born Mauritian composer Nathen Durasamy worked alongside Aurora to orchestrate The Last Dinner Party’s BRIT-nominated second album From The Pyre, as well as contributing orchestration for both Jax Jones and producer INFLO [Michael Kiwanuka, Little Simz, SAULT].
