TELLS A DISENCHANTING TALE OF ROMANCE
ON BRAND NEW SINGLE, "JUST LIKE THAT!"
FEATURING AN OMINOUS NEW MUSIC VIDEO
VLOGGING THROUGH THE INSANITY OF DATING CULTURE
& WHAT HAPPENS WHEN A GIRL ACTUALIZES HER REVENGE FANTASY
HER LATEST SONG OFF HER UPCOMING DEBUT EP MODERN DANCE
"You may know Kimiko Glenn’s face from her role in Orange Is the New Black or any number of other comedy series spanning the past 10 years or so—from Broad City to Drunk History—though she’s just as well known for her voice work (e.g. on BoJack Horseman and the recent DuckTales reboot). You can hear that voice in an all new light, though, on her upcoming debut EP under the mononym KIMIKO."
Today, Los Angeles-based artist, actress and performer Kimiko Glenn shares her latest single,"Just Like That!", an outwardly laid-back, but totally un-chill song examining the devolving mental state of a woman trying to negotiate a particularly frustrating romantic encounter. The new song is a part of her upcoming debut EP Modern Dance, a short yet sharp diary of her past relationship woes, the rush of romance, and the highs and lows of today's dating landscape.
"'Just Like That!' is a seemingly chill song about the world being literally on fire, but your biggest concern, the greatest tragedy of all, is that he hasn’t texted you back," says KIMIKO of the new single. "It’s a gross display of how unreasonable yearning feels, and how deranged it makes you. It’s the process of convincing yourself you’re more important than this — like, you’re sooo busy right now! — while ultimately voice-noting everyone you know, spiraling out of control."
The new single comes with an accompanying music video that grounds absurdity of modern dating in an equally cheeky, self-aware setting: the TikTok For You page. Composed as several trendy vlogs stitched together — the Get Ready With Me's, the fashion hauls, the song teasers, the matcha flashes, the dance trends — KIMIKO smartly conceals the emotional turbulence of a relationship behind a fabulous, sparkly yet opaque window.
KIMIKO framed the story around a fictional micro-influencer, feeling both the rush of excitement and the pang of anger asan unexpected ghost from her past resurfaces unexpectedly. "From that moment on," the pop singer explains, "she spends the entirety of the video pretending to be fabulous and unbothered for her small following (and idk, maybe he’ll watch some of her stories??!!)." But as the day goes on, her efforts for self-care become increasingly more unhinged. "If you look closely, beyond her manicured online presence, she’s totally spiraling," she adds. "But, but… She’s better than this! She has sooooo much going on. She doesn’t even care!!! (But srsly, wtf did he die??)"

"Just Like That!" follows KIMIKO's previous single, "Emotional Whiplash", an anthemic track bracing for impact as it chronicles the push and pull during the early stages of a relationship that ultimately won't last. Fun, therapeutic, and artistically liberating for the emerging pop star — especially as it marked her first venture into directing with the accompanying music video — this song is just a sample of what's yet to come in Kimiko's official debut with Modern Dance.

The creation of KIMIKO's debut EP Modern Dance allowed the multi-hyphenate to find new ways to channel her grievances, lean into humor, and celebrate life through different forms of art. She found inspiration in the current array of jovial female pop superstars of the moment and their relatability. Inspired by songwriters like Lilly Allen and Sabrina Carpenter — two women finding power and fun in their struggles with gender and sexual politics — Kimiko aims to hide nothing of what makes her and women everywhere beautiful, complex, funny, and independent.
In October 2025, KIMIKO shared the cheeky track and playfully sinister video, "Hang Out Forever?" which chronicles a seemingly successful date that goes terribly wrong and expands her entry into music. With much more on the way, KIMIKO plans to cement herself in her own spirited musical universe that displays her lived experiences through lighthearted, brutally honest lyricism and bubbly production.
