MACY Returns with Playful New Single “Please Keep Talking”

South Wales Pop Rising Star MACY Returns with Playful New Single “Please Keep Talking”
MACY, a pop artist from South Wales, has been steadily building a reputation for bright, unapologetically feel-good pop that blends sharp storytelling with infectious energy. Writing and recording much of her music from her bedroom, she first broke through with her debut single “Cinema” in 2020 and has since developed a bold, confident sound across two EPs and a growing catalogue of releases. Coming from Blaenau Gwent, an area where opportunities in the music industry can be limited, MACY’s journey has been shaped by determination and resilience, carving her own lane in a genre rarely championed in her hometown. Passionate about giving back, she also regularly returns to local schools and community spaces to encourage young creatives to pursue music and self-expression.
Her new single “Please Keep Talking” captures MACY at her most playful and self-aware. Written alongside Owain Felstead and chart-topping, award-winning producer Zak Lloyd at Birchwood Recording Studio in Newport, the track turns the all-too-relatable experience of being trapped in an awkward conversation into a tongue-in-cheek pop anthem. Lloyd brings heavyweight pop experience, with credits linked to the Taylor Swift Reputation Tour alongside work with artists including Calum Scott, Wonho, The Stickmen, Charli XCX and Keane, as well as major television platforms such as America’s Got Talent and The Voice, adding a polished, arena-ready edge to MACY’s vibrant songwriting. Balancing humour with honest, everyday storytelling, the single pairs MACY’s vibrant vocals with glossy, high-energy production inspired by artists such as Jessie J, Dua Lipa and Olivia Dean, resulting in a track that feels effortlessly fun and instantly memorable.
Still only in her mid-twenties, MACY has already achieved remarkable momentum. She has had an incredible amount of BBC Radio Wales A-List placements and recently made her debut on BBC Radio 1’s Breakfast Show. Her live performances have seen her take to stages including the BAFTA Cymru Awards, the Principality Stadium performing to 50,000 people, Focus Wales, 110 Above Festival, Swansea Fringe and the international M For Montreal Festival in 2024. She has also curated her own Cardiff mini-festival, PLANET POP, appeared on ITV’s primetime show BackStage, and performed live alongside Emeli Sandé on the Scott Quinnell Christmas Show. With continued support from organisations including BBC Introducing, PRS Foundation, Horizons, Youth Music and Help Musicians, MACY continues to establish herself as one of Wales’ most exciting rising pop voices.
