UKG don Sammy Virji has been creating serious noise on both sides of the Atlantic leading up to the announcement of Same Day Cleaning. In April, across three debut shows, he drew some of Coachella’s biggest crowds (clip here) ahead of dropping the anticipated first single “Nostalgia” (stream here) with Issey Cross. Alongside a B2B with Four Tet at Blackstone Street Warehouse and shows at U.S. festivals like Lightning in a Bottle and Movement Detroit, Sammy went on to drop the LP’s latest single, “Cops & Robbers,” featuring grime legend, Skepta, in May. To launch the single, they hosted a huge pop-up party at Canning Town-based venue London East, after receiving over 10,000 sign-ups for the event (clip here). Watch the official video for “Cops & Robbers” here.
Tomorrow, Sammy headlines New York’s Forest Hills Stadium with support from JOY (Anonymous), KETTAMA, ATRIP, and Anna Lunoe – tickets available here.
More on Sammy Virji’s sophomore album, Same Day Cleaning, including details on guest collaborations with the finest from electronic music and beyond, will be revealed over the coming months. In the meantime, Sammy is gearing up for a stacked summer schedule that keeps the momentum sky-high. He’ll play his biggest headline show yet at Forest Hills Stadium in New York, followed by festival sets at Hideout, Outside Lands, Lowlands, All Points East with Chase & Status, Pukkelpop, and Reading and Leeds Festivals. He’ll also bring his signature energy to Boiler Room Ibiza in July. September closes out the run with huge appearances at Circoloco Ibiza, 10K-capacity shows in Los Angeles at Rio Vista Lot at The Historic Sears Building and in Denver Civic Center Park, all paving the way to Same Day Cleaning album release on September 19th.
About Sammy Virji
Oxford-born Sammy Virji is driving the evolution of UKG, as the genre takes the world by storm – again. The London producer/DJ, nominated for Best Producer at DJ Mag’s Best Of British Awards in 2023, is an in-demand dance music maker, whether that’s for his brighter garage cuts like ‘Find My Way Home’ (33M streams), screw-face belters like ‘Shella Verse’ featuring Grammy-nominated Flowdan (19M streams), or synth-heavy bass house singles like ‘Summertime Blues’ with Chris Lake and Nathan Nicholson, now sitting at a whopping 32M streams. His catchy 2023 single ‘If U Need It’ was arguably his biggest hit yet, now cruising towards 80M streams, having reached #85 on the UK Singles Chart. In 2024, he and fellow UKG don Interplanetary Criminal unleashed arguably the track of the year in the form of ‘Damager.’
