NASHVILLE, TN— Indie-pop artist Blue Monkey, the creative moniker of Charlee Remitz — praised by LA Weekly, American Songwriter, and Alternative Press — releases their long-awaited debut LP Ageless today. The 11-track album is a sweeping exploration of freedom, patience, and self-reinvention, combining evocative vocals, cinematic production, and genre-defying instrumentation into a richly textured listening experience.

The extended edition of Ageless, featuring two new tracks, will be released Friday, August 8.

Blurring the lines between ambient pop, indie-folk, and experimental storytelling, Blue Monkey’s music lives in the in-betweens — indie that doesn’t stick to the script, pop without the polish, and lyricism that aims straight for the heart. Ageless embraces imperfection and wonder, encouraging listeners to step outside the constraints of identity and into a freer, more imaginative version of self.

“Over the years, I’ve experienced an intentional softening,” shares Blue Monkey. “I was, at one time, deeply unaffected by my own life... I wandered into whimsy. I became gentle and soft, and it was all owing to an intuition that everything I’d been through — whether divine, careless, impulsive, or reckless — was meant for me and could be reclaimed as such.”

Blue Monkey — named for “Chuen,” the 11th sign in the Mayan Zodiac, symbolizing the birth of creativity — emerged with a series of singles leading up to the album: Pylons (Aug. 16), Pretty Things (Sept. 13), Common Enemies (Nov. 22), Dive Bar Christmas(Dec. 6),  Golden Rule (Jan. 31), Everything You Do Is Meant for You(Mar. 7), and most recently, Gleaming (May 2). The persona allows Remitz to release art free from personal constraint, inviting a return to imagination and joy.

“The moniker, in a way, removes the presence of impact, returning the art to its most primitive stages — creation, or else,” Blue Monkey explains.

“Golden Rule” earned praise from Under the Radar for its “gentle, soft-focus folk pop,” and was featured on Apple Music’s “New in Alternative” playlist. The latest track, “Gleaming,” leans into emotional clarity, encouraging listeners to release relationships that dull their light. It’s a slow-burning, ambient indie-pop anthem that trades pretense for purpose.

Another standout track, “Everything You Do Is Meant for You,” serves as an anthem for dreamers — those who feel ahead, behind, or exactly on time. The accompanying video follows a whimsical journey from Nashville’s Produce Place to the memorial for Miss Baker, the space-traveling squirrel monkey, in Huntsville, AL — a reminder that every strange and beautiful moment unfolds just as it’s meant to.
