Nuovo Testamento debut pulsating new single and video “Picture Perfect”
Announce Trouble EP out July 25th on Discoteca Italia
Nuovo Testamento - the Los Angeles based trio consisting of Chelsey Crowley (vocals), Giacomo Zatti (drums) and Andrea Mantione (synth) - has spent the last several years seizing dance floors across the world with their blend of dark Italo-disco and synth drenched pop. Now the band continue their ascent with the announcement of their upcoming EP, Trouble, out July 25th through their own imprint, Discoteca Italia. Showcasing the trio's most mature and explorative repertoire to date, the five songs on Trouble encapsulate the '80s and '90s influences the group holds dear - melding freestyle, synth pop and alternative music into a cohesive (and danceable) sonic statement.
Lead single "Picture Perfect" is a celebratory anthem driven by an infectious beat and shimmering synths. The track’s catchy hook recalls the greats of freestyle and '90s pop while showing off the vocal prowess of singer Chelsey Crowley. The official video captures the band’s freedom of expression, alongside a cohort of sharply dressed dancers, and gives a visual context to their new sound, creating an electrifying world that every listener will want to be part of. You can watch the video for “Picture Perfect” HERE and stream the track HERE.
Expanding on the songs lyrics, the band share:
“It’s about a sweet, pure kind of desire - adoration, admiration, wanting, hope. It’s free of doubt and full of conviction. There’s no pain in this song, only the joy of someone’s existence and knowing that they are meant for you. It’s asking for trust until someone knows as much as you do about who you will be to one another.”
Fans of Nuovo Testamento can dance along to the single and more when the band hit Los Angeles, New York, and Tucson this summer, followed by dates supporting Sextile in September. Full routing below.
Launching in 2019, Nuovo Testamento’s debut EP, Exposure (Avant! Records) acted as a coldwave calling card for the group, showcasing their promising musical acumen and establishing them as a goth-night favorite. However, it was their 2021 follow up New Earth that truly articulated the trio's dark-pop prowess and earned them a spot amongst the fastest rising stars in the alternative scene. A kaleidoscopic blast of vintage club sounds, pulsing synths and modern pop precision, the release earned nods from across the genre spectrum. 2023's self-released Love Lines and tours with Molchat Doma and The Soft Moon solidified the staying power of the band, opening the door for remix collaborations with groups like Drab Majesty, Curses, and Scowl and a busy itinerary of live performances. With crystalline modern production from Maurizio Baggio (Boy Harsher, The Soft Moon) and effervescent songwriting, Nuovo Testamento has created a fresh new sound unmistakably their own and the release of Trouble promises another breakout year for the band.
