strongboi share their soaring new bop âspecialâ. Arriving as the second single from their upcoming EP, âspecialâ delivers a timeless dose of dreamy alt-pop, driven by a playful passion that echoes the energy of their live shows. This blissful new offering is carried by emotive backing vocals and a heavenly yet simple arrangement, drawing inspiration from some of their favorite old soul songs.
âspecialâ follows the slick and soothing âbe mineâ, which arrived back in February. The Line of Best Fit described strongboiâs sound as âawash in a distinct old-school sound and punchy pop melodies,â while also crafting âsunny bedroom pop dreams.â
Pulling from a wild mix of influences, strongboi have cultivated an innovative sound that is truly their own. Recorded at Thump and Diamond Mine in NYC, their latest chapter boasts old school inspiration, while simultaneously displaying fresh and innovative ideas.
With live performance at the heart of strongboiâs artistry, their acclaimed shows pull out all the stopsâlayering multiple synths, guitars, drums, and dreamy vocals. This dynamic setup earned them the Anchor Award for Best Newcomer at Reeperbahn Festival last September.
This summer strongboi will be joining âMen I Trustâ on their North American tour. This comes in the wake of an exceptional London headline show at Village Underground back in March as well as festival hopping between Les Inrocks Festival, M4 Music Festival and Immergut Festival Neustrelitz already this year.
strongboi is a passion fueled project of long time friends & collaborators Alice & Ziv. They began with a super lo-fi vision of using mainly casio keyboards & toys, but today they have filled out and evolved as a full band project.
They released their self-titled debut album back in 2023 which took shape as a 7-track compendium of bouncing bangers and smooth, rolling grooves, all delivered with charming authenticity. Since they launched, strongboi have accumulated much acclaim, including warm words from the likes of NPR, Clash, Notion, COLORS and KCRW, not to mention being hand picked by Elton John for his Rocket Hour.
