Atlanta’s FearDorian (He/Him) and Baltimore’s osquinn (She/Her) have emerged as two of the underground’s most innovative producer-artist hybrids. After years of one-off collabs, Discord links, and myth-level teasers, the longtime online-turned-IRL friends will release their debut joint album Before You Press Play on November 14th via 3500.
Alongside the news, the duo return with their latest single and music video “tmb”, a hazy, warped cut that blends ambitious diaristic bars with atmospheric production and glitch-warm textures, offering a glimpse into the world the duo has crafted around the album.
Before You Press Play marks a defining moment for two boundary-pushing artists shaping the future of post-genre rap and internet-born experimental music. Together, they’ve built a shared universe where emotion leads, rules loosen, and genre becomes a feeling rather than a framework.
Early singles, “Bags,” “L Train Vintage,” “duh,” and “distance” have already showcased their telepathic chemistry, trading verses in distinct warped cadences over blown-out drums, glossy synths, and post-internet soul. The tracks pull from Atlanta’s emerging DIY rave-rap ecosystem, cross-wired with hyper-emotional digicore DNA, late-night laptop sessions, and the constant hum of growing up in real time.
Meeting as teenagers across SoundCloud servers, forums, and basement studios, FearDorian and osquinn bonded over global music, deep-cut sampling, and a shared belief in pushing boundaries without sacrificing heart. Before You Press Play was created across hotel rooms, tour stops, and early mornings before the world woke up – a self-contained universe shaped as much by life as by sound – equal parts beauty and chaos, grounded in honesty and creative trust.
Rejecting trends and embracing risk, the project moves the underground forward with raw emotion, live-wire energy, and a depth that only appears when ego steps aside and life rushes in. Influences span Cities Aviv, James K, Sade, Adrianne Lenker, Vegyn, Mk.gee, and countless late-night dives through ambient grooves and Spotify gems, but its truest influence is lived experience: shifting cities, friendships, breakdowns, rebuilds, and learning to live first, then make art about it.
The duo shares, “We want to put personality and vulnerability back in music.” Adding, “This is real. This isn’t made-up. It’s a piece of us.”
The result is a raw, cinematic portrait of two artists stepping into adulthood not with bravado, but with intention. Before You Press Play isn’t chasing a moment – it’s defining one. Emotionally charged, spiritually grounded, and built for kids making worlds in bedrooms, breathing life into them in warehouses, skate-parks and unconventional spaces where imagination echoes louder than industry noise.
An early pioneer of the digicore era that birthed artists like Jane Remover, glaive, Brakence, Glitch Gum, etc., quinn first made waves on SoundCloud with hyperpop-adjacent chaos–producing, singing, and rapping her way into cult status. Early tracks like the dreamy, existential crisis “I don’t want that many friends in the first place” (80M+ Streams), the introverted rhythmic confessional “ok im cool” (23M+Streams), and the generation-defining “bad idea” helped establish her as one of the scene’s most dynamic voices. Over time, she’s carved out a lane of her own, pushing boundaries through projects like her debut album Drive-By Lullabies (2021), quinn (2022), stars fell on trench (2025), and most recently lowlife (2025). Her work consistently delivers genre-defying productions that blend heart with high-concept experimentation consisting of electronic oddities, jazz flourishes, and confessional lyricism.
FearDorian quickly became a go to producer in the new underground, helping define the sound of Surf Gang, xaviersobased, NolanBeRollin, Polo Perks, RiTchie and BabyxSosa. But in 2024, he fully stepped into his own as a solo artist with his self-titled debut, collaborative tape A Dog’s Chance (with Polo Perks, AyooLii) and his 2025 breakouts Leaving Home and Out The Past With A Window – coming-of-age records highlighting his sharp songwriting and cinematic production, capturing the weird in-between of growing up online while trying to make real life count. Songs like the disaffected groove of “I.V.” and spacey flow fest with quinn on “Las Vegas” showed off his heavy-hitting bars and ability to ride on esoteric beats whereas tracks like “Gotta Be” and “Pray 4 the People” showcase his post-genre sound and DIY ethos (recorded in his Mom’s car), as they mix blown-out low end production with diaristic raps about pressure, purpose, and survival.
Championed by Pitchfork, NoBells, The FADER, Business Insider, The New York Times and more, the pair have carved singular paths through the underground. Together, they move like family – creating a world of distorted melodies, warped samples, and lyrical vulnerability.
Before You Press Play is their most self-assured statement yet. It doesn’t chase trends, it sets them.
