DEBUT EP HOW REAL WAS IT? OUT NOVEMBER 14, 2025
(October 3, 2025) Continuing a breakthrough year, UK-based singer, songwriter, and actress Asha Banks unveils a new single entitled “Mascara Tears” out now via Island Records. Listen HERE. The track, which follows the first song of this era, “Rerun,” marks the next single off her anxiously awaited debut EP, How Real Was It?, out November 14.
This tender confessional highlights her unapologetic honesty threaded into a striking yet straightforward soundscape. Naked piano rings out, and claps reverberate in the distance. Adopting a soft cadence, she makes an admission, “I know I’m not a villain, but I’m not the hero.” The momentum swells, and emotion overflows from her vocal on the tear-soaked refrain, “Cause I cried so hard I started choking and I miss you still it’s not a joke that I know I hurt you, but can I hurt too?”
On the track, Asha stated, “I love this song so much. It was written on one of those days where I had so much to say and it all just came falling out into “Mascara Tears.” Seeing how it’s connected with people at my live shows already makes it feel so special to me.”
Asha’s fans have expressed widespread demand for more music, and she has engaged them with easter eggs and breadcrumbs, turning up the anticipation to a boiling point. This ardent audience has flooded fan events and shows, coming out in groups by the hundreds.
The world has already fallen in love with Asha, enamored by her magnetic presence earlier this year, leading Prime Video’s global success My Fault: London and hit series A Good Girl’s Guide To Murder on NETFLIX, among numerous other film and television credits. However, music has always remained close to her heart. At barely six years old, she penned her very first song and forever harbored a dream of becoming an artist. Growing up, she intently listened to everyone from Joni Mitchell and Norah Jones to Jack Johnson, Johnny Cash, and AC/DC.
Asha just took the stage for her biggest headline gig to date at Regent Park’s Open Air Theatre. Most recently, she graced a special Digital Cover of NOTION, who marveled at how “From starring in My Fault: London to releasing her debut EP, actor and singer Asha Banks is opening herself up in all its forms.” She also teamed up with BRIT Award-winning and Ivor Novello-nominated artist Holly Humberstone to collaborate on “Dive.” It soundtracked the credits of My Fault: London and landed looks from DORK, The Line of Best Fit , and more. Asha and Holly hit the stage at Queen Caroline’s Temple at Hyde Park in London for a head- turning live rendition of “Dive.” Watch HERE.

ABOUT ASHA BANKS:
Asha Banks shines as a consummate creative with an uncanny ability to tell stories across artistic mediums. She has captivated audiences on stage and on-screen as an actress, but she has truly pulled fans into her embrace as a singer and songwriter. She wrote her first tune as a child and never stopped obsessing over music. A quiet grind saw her achieve global renown thanks to starring roles in #1 Prime Video hit My Fault: London and NETFLIX’s A Good Girl’s Guide To Murder . She has recently finished filming the next film in the trilogy, YOUR FAULT: LONDON and Season 2 of A GOOD GIRL’S GUIDE TO MURDER. Simultaneously, Asha generated millions of streams with her original singles, such as “So Green” and “Feel The Rush,” paving the way for the fan-favorite 2025 Untie My Tongue EP. Along the way, her journey would also be enthusiastically chronicled by everyone from NOTION to The Hollywood Reporter. Not to mention, she has ignited stages at BST Hyde Park and All Points East. Signing to Island Records in 2025, her light glows even brighter on the new single “Rerun” and more to come.
