After announcing a performance at the Olympia on November 20, 2025, the artist behind the diamond-certified single ‘Shining Light’ (over 50M streams) is back with "TAKING MY DISTANCE," a powerful track that intertwines rebellion and independence. Known for his bold and inventive DIY approach, Aime Simone marks a new chapter in his artistic journey with this release.
“TAKING MY DISTANCE” resonates like a siren. The track, driven by frantic percussion, blends reimagined rock energy with trap rhythms and the pulse of an 808, creating an intense and aggressive dynamic. The absence of guitars, unusual for the artist, reflects a desire to explore new sonic horizons, particularly through minimalist yet powerful synthesizers, inspired by punk, witch house, and EDM influences.
The song's lyrics tackle the theme of breaking free from a toxic environment and staying true to one’s convictions, talking on the track Aime explains: "I wanted to express a desire for freedom and self-assertion. Taking My Distance is about taking control of your life through personal expression."
The single’s cover art, created by Argentine artist 3rd World Elite, captures the rebellious spirit of the track. The contrasts of red and black depict Aime in motion, symbolizing both the rejection of constraints and artistic transformation.
The music video, co-directed by his creative and life partner Sonja Fix and director Vitalii Akimov (Kanye West, Eartheater), presents a striking visual universe, blending CGI, artificial intelligence, and real-life imagery. Inspired by Gustave Doré's engravings for Paradise Lost, the cult film The Wall by Pink Floyd, and the expressionist classic Metropolis, the video tells the story of an angelic figure navigating a futuristic world dominated by machines. This blend of references and styles offers a visual journey as innovative as it is surreal.
Aime Simone will be performing at a sold-out concert at the Trianon on December 14, where he will perform tracks from his latest album Oh Glory (2023) along with some unreleased songs. With the release of “TAKING MY DISTANCE” 2024 looks set to be another stand out year for Aime Simone.
