The Cheap Thrills have released their brand new EPMind Metro.Listen here. Marking the release they have revealed the video for new single ‘Calypso Blue’.Watch here.
‘Calypso Blue’ proves the dexterity of the Liverpudlian indie band with a touching song about losing someone close to you. Regarding the single frontman Lewis Pike says, “‘Calypso Blue’ is a song about love and loss, reminiscing on long childhood car journeys gazing out the window at the stars. A journey can be more memorable than the destination.”
The newMind MetroEP opens with the widely praised high energy single ‘Reborn’, which drew critical praise from the likes of the Evening Standard claiming it “shows the band is ready to reach new heights”, while John Kennedy called it “an instant anthem” on his Radio X show and it achieved further radio support from Steve Lamacq on BBC 6Music.
‘Last Orders’ keeps up the tempo with a late-night indie party anthem which has recently been receiving great support from BBC Introducing, while the heartfelt acoustic-led ‘Escape’ plays on a different tip yet has still proved a hit on the airwaves with support from BBC 6Music and Radio X.
To celebrate the EP release The Cheap Thrills are hitting the road, kicking off with their largest headline show yet to 2000 fans at Liverpool’s Content on March 2nd, which sold out a month in advance. The band will also play The Stag’s Head in Hoxton, London on March 23rd. The Cheap Thrills will be hitting the festival circuit this summer, they have been announced for Vest Rock in the Netherlands with more dates to follow soon.
