Blending vibrant, shimmering guitars with infectious melodies, Vienna Vienna is an emerging artist carving out his own lane in modern alternative music with a sound he's coined "glimmer rock." Today, the LA-based singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist unveils his debut EP, Wonderland, via PULSE Records in collaboration with Fall Out Boy’s Pete Wentz’s label, DCD2. Released on National Coming Out Day, the EP’s timing is fitting, as it delves into themes of queerness and Vienna Vienna’s evolving relationship with faith, making it a celebration of identity and self-acceptance. Through this body of work, he crafts a unique sonic landscape where introspection meets euphoric energy, offering anthems for both personal reflection and communal joy.
Wonderland follows the success of the lead single, “Vienna (Everything’s Fine),” which showcases Vienna Vienna's refreshing take on electric guitar-driven alt-rock. The track fuses dreamy, hypnotic riffs with raw and revealing lyrics, offering a glimpse into the messy, often sarcastic journey of self-improvement. The single made a splash on streaming, securing spots on Spotify’s New Music Friday, New Alt, All New Rock, and landed the covers of New Noise and UK playlist The Locker; it was also selected by EA Sports for the NHL 25 video game soundtrack.
In Wonderland, Vienna Vienna invites listeners into a fantastical universe that embraces both his radiant weirdness and deeply personal journey. The EP weaves vibrant soundscapes and poignant storytelling, embodying the juxtaposition of identity, spirituality, and self-acceptance. Musically, it’s a bold, unconventional collection—vulnerable yet bursting with energy, reflecting Vienna Vienna's distinctive "glimmer rock" ethos.
Reflecting on the creation of Wonderland, Vienna Vienna shares, “Wonderland is a bit of a time capsule. Coming of age stories have always fascinated me—how and when people discover themselves. I looked at my life and thought I was finally becoming, so I wrote it down. Wonderland was a tinnitus-inducing show where I snuck out back and pretended to have smoked a cigarette before; the pain I’d been burying tearing its way through; strangers and lovers at the same time. It was finding community, still feeling lonely, finding a voice but too scared to say anything—though less so now that I’ve found a place in it all. I’m grateful for how building this world has changed me. Maybe now, someone else should give it a spin.”
