Natalie Jane Literally Lays Toxic Love to Rest in “Yucky” Video
Sick to My Stomach EP Out Now – Listen HERE
Upcoming Tour Hits Australia, US, Europe – Dates HERE
Creative powerhouse Natalie Jane celebrates the recent release of her evocative Sick to My Stomach EP — out now via Capitol Music Group / 10K Projects — with a poignant music video for project highlight “Yucky.” Watch HERE.
Sick to My Stomach explores the gut-flipping thrills and anxieties of love, and “Yucky” leans into the theme with Natalie cooing, “You say you like blondes, I’ll call my hairdresser / Paint my lips cherry, ‘cause you like it better.” Across the song she ignores friends and red flags, contorting herself to appeal to a mate. The music makes dramatic changes too, from intimate acoustic-pop to stadium-sized alt-rock to rubbery UK dance.
The “Yucky” video, directed by Paola Ossa, turns the narrative on its head. When the colorful visual begins, Natalie is dolled up in pink frills, heavy makeup, and a blonde wig, arranging flowers. Soon, though, her friends arrive to help her get back on track – and then some. Between wardrobe montages and dance routines involving shovels and dirt… let’s just say they put that phony, toxically pining version of Natalie to rest.
Speaking on her Sick to My Stomach songs, Natalie recently said, “In general I want my music to be something for people to put on in the car when they’re feeling upset, and need some kind of outlet to scream along to. I want every song to be a therapy session.” When she triumphantly shouts “I hate who I become,” “Yucky” hits that note.
Anticipation ran high for the EP — ahead of the release, combined views of short form videos for Sick to My Stomach’s songs had surpassed 200 million. (Listen HERE.) To follow, Natalie announced her Sick To My Stomach Tour, hitting major cities across Australia, Europe, and North America. Her set will showcase everything fans have come to love about the New Jersey-raised, Los Angeles-based artist — her exhilarating vocal range, her evocative music choices, and her gift for making complex feelings feel entirely relatable.
