ANNA GRAVES RETURNS WITH NEW TRACK, “IN THE WILD”

“This song depicts a time in my life when I felt like I was hiding behind a facade. I was in a city of strangers, but still felt like a sole survivor in the wild.” – Anna Graves

(June 2, 2023 – New York, NY) Anna Graves seeks inspiration looking for quiet revelations in solitude and always finds a semblance of peace in music. The Minnesota born singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist was introduced in March with “Easy For You,” her first single via Island Records / LAVA Records and today releases brand new track “In The Wild.”

Following the underpinning of honesty and vulnerability on “Easy For You,” “In The Wild” reveals another side of Anna with its upbeat momentum that bottles how she “felt moving to Los Angeles and being overwhelmed.” She elaborates, “It’s a huge city with so many people, but I was more alone than ever. I’m less alone surrounded by nature.”

Growing up without a television on a small horse farm in rural southern Minnesota, Anna and her brother were encouraged to develop their imaginations by painting, writing and spending time outdoors. In her early years, Anna drew soulful inspiration from Joni Mitchell, Tori Amos, Fleetwood Mac, Tracy Chapman, and two fellow Minnesotans, Prince and Bob Dylan.

Today, Anna has a lot to say on the roots of her creative process. “I realized I was so hung up on the past, that I didn’t feel like I was moving forward. I wasn’t forgiving myself and I wasn’t forgiving others.”

“I hope you experience the colors of the music and know that you’re not alone,” Anna says to her new fans. “This is for my over-thinkers, it’s for those slow and introspective moments. I hope you listen to my music and that it touches an emotion and makes you feel the same way I did when I first discovered my favorite songwriters.”
