“This French psych duo come on like Tame Impala and Mary Chain’s
groovy cousins from Perpignan. Swoony, swirly and slick”
“French Pop in its purest form”
“Sweet 60s melodies combined with The Limiñanas’ psychedelic and modern sound”
The Limiñanas have always known how to surround themselves with creativity: Laurent Garnier, Étienne Daho, Pascal Comelade, Anton Newcombe – these collaborations have consistently opened up new horizons for them. The same is true with Live at Beaubourg, their very first live album, which is a unique testimony to a high-level encounter between the duo’s garage-psych sound and the hypnotic visual universe of contemporary artist SMITH.
This album captures the essence of an exceptional weekend at the Centre Pompidou. Conceived to match the architecture and energy of Because Beaubourg—where the label transforms the museum into a playground with performances, carte blanche events, and DJ sets from legendary artists like Thomas Bangaltera and Fred Again—The Limiñanas deliver one of the highlights of the weekend. Live at Beaubourg stands as its only recording, conceived as a documentary record rather than a simple live “best of.”
The collaboration between The Limiñanas and SMITH dates back to 2024, during Normandie Impressionniste, where the festival director Philippe Platel had the inspiration to bring the artists together. At the time, The Limiñanas were refining their album Faded, dedicated to actresses from Hollywood’s golden age who have since passed away, and this resonated with SMITH’s work, which often uses thermal cameras: “what the camera sees is not the body but the heat it gives off, a kind of aura left behind before it disappears. That’s exactly what Faded is about: bringing these ghosts back through music.”
This collaboration naturally continued at the Centre Pompidou with a total performance combining sound and visuals, where bodies became luminous silhouettes in a psychedelic universe. Surrounded by five musicians and Pascal Comelade, Lionel and Marie Limiñana revisited eight tracks from their catalogue in a continuous trance. Live at Beaubourg captures this rare moment. And to preserve the full visual magic, the video recording is also available.

ABOUT THE LIMIÑANAS:
Hailing from a small town in the South of France, Lionel and Marie Limiñana aka The Limiñanas reinvent the 1960s French yéyé heritage by fusing it with modern rock. Their unique style blends the rebellious spirit and aesthetic of the Gainsbourg and Bardot era with contemporary garage and psychedelic sounds. Singing in French & English and collaborating with a diverse array of artists, The Limiñanas have a unique ability to distill the cachet of a nostalgic, highly cinematic era while revisiting it through a modern lens.
The duo made a name for themselves through prestigious collaborations with iconic figures in the pop-rock scene, including Anton Newcombe of The Brian Jonestown Massacre and Peter Hook of Joy Division/New Order.
“This is the history of The Limiñanas. Here is Marie, a classic French rock chick who can beat a drum like she means it, and Lio, a sly French guitar hustler with an ear for space. So, listen here to enjoy a subtle pleasure, and get a lesson in survival of the body and soul. The shit rocks.” –Iggy Pop
Acclaimed by MOJO and championed by Rough Trade founder Geoff Travis, The Limiñanas have established themselves as the coolest spearhead of the French garage-rock scene. With high-profile admirers ranging from Primal Scream and Franz Ferdinand to Iggy Pop—who regularly features them on BBC6—the duo has become an international force. Signed to Because Music, they continue to captivate audiences and critics worldwide through extensive touring across Europe, the UK, and Australia.
