On the heels of his No. 1 hit “Actin’ Tough,” Australian DJ/producer Dean Turnley announces an extensive tour that will keep him on the road through the Fall. The headline run will kick off on June 12 with a show at The Light Bar in London and take him throughout the U.K. and Europe over the summer. The North American leg will launch on September 5 at District in Atlanta and include shows at California Plaza in Los Angeles (September 12), Spybar in Chicago (September 18), and Refuge in New York (October 10). In addition to his headline dates, Turnley will perform at numerous festivals, including Parklife (Manchester, UK), Tomorrowland (Boom, Belgium) and Pukkelpop (Hasselt, Belgium). Turnley, who is based in Melbourne, Australia, has spent the past decade building a reputation as a respected underground selector, rooted in Detroit and Chicago house influences. A co-founder of Thailand’s Sundancer festival, he’s also built a growing international presence through both his events and DJ sets.
Since its release in March via CHAOS/Astralwerks/Intercord Germany in collaboration with HOME//GRXWN, “Actin’ Tough” has amassed over 14 million Spotify streams and hit #1 on the Spotify Viral Chart, SoundCloud, Shazam and Beatport. Turnley featured on a Times Square SoundCloud billboard during release week and was supported by BBC Radio 1 and many others. In May, Turnley shared two remixes of the song. Stream the A.B.C. “Actin’ Tough” has been building steadily through word of mouth since the start of the year, first surfacing in DJ sets before quickly becoming a sought-after ID. Early momentum was driven by Melbourne’s tight-knit scene, with Turnley and close collaborators Not Without Friends – Jordan Brando, William Kiss and Luke Alessi – helping break the record in clubs and online. Videos began circulating of several remixes being played out by DJs (including Chris Lake, Sammy Virji, Subtronics, Zulan, Gorgon City, Cassian, and Smoakland). Bia performed her own version at Coachella, and online posts and shares from Interplantary Criminal, Peggy Gou & KILIMANJARO also helped fuel its success.
During Miami Music Week, “Actin’ Tough” was the most played out record and snipes of the song’s lyrics could be seen all over the city. Turnley appeared as a special guest at the Raw Cuts Miami Pop-Up, made a surprise appearance in a B2B with Rossi. at Factory Town, checked in with MistaJam at Capital Dance and closed out the week by throwing a surprise pop up at Club Space.
