“My Brother the Minotaur” is a thrilling mix of folklore, mystery and adventure about a young minotaur – half boy, half bull – found and raised in the human world. With the help of his fiercely loyal human brother, he recruits a bold group of friends to uncover the mystery of his minotaur past and fulfill his destiny, all while battling dark forces determined to see him fail. The music from Henson and Stenning is integral to building the mythical world the series inhabits. “Living in Scotland,” says Henson, “I have the privilege of collaborating with some of the finest folk musicians in the world, and I pitched to Maurice Joyce, the director, an approach I described as ‘Folk John Williams’: richly melodic, detailed, complex, and orchestral in scope, but grounded in Celtic and Gaelic instrumentation.”

Through this approach, Henson weaves a fervent quilt of evocative compositions that are given further resonance by Stenning’s lyrics and ethereal vocals. “By far my favourite genre to work in is underscoring dramatic stories for younger audiences,” shares Henson. “The emotional bandwidth is far broader—when something is frightening, I like to push it to its limits; when it’s joyful, it can be expressed with complete openness and sincerity. When I was approached to work on “My Brother the Minotaur”, I set out not only to create a thematic narrative, but to build an entire world.”

Alongside her solo work, Stenning writes and performs for film and television. She enjoys working collaboratively with composers and using her voice both lyrically and as an experimental, textural instrument.
