POP-COUNTRY SINGER-SONGWRITER USHERS IN BOLD NEW SONIC ERA

NASHVILLE, TN (March 27, 2026) — With more than 11 million streams, 17 million video views, over 100,000 monthly listeners, and back-to-back recognition from the International Songwriting Competition, Naomi Jane enters 2026 with critical acclaim and undeniable momentum. Already praised by LA WeeklySPIN and Billboard Argentina, she now delivers her boldest sonic statement yet: “Pumpkin Eater,” a stomp-worthy country-pop anthem packed with sharp satire and arena-sized hooks, released February 27. Today, she debuts the official music video for the track.

Written and directed by Naomi and shot with longtime collaborator Matthew Patrick Donner, the cinematic video transforms the song’s chant-ready hook, “Cheater, cheater, pumpkin eater,” into a satirical, pumpkin-laden road trip. Equal parts modern folk tale and revenge fantasy, the visual follows Naomi on a playful quest that appears to stretch to Ireland, though the entire video was filmed in California’s Santa Barbara County

The video spans locations from Fitzpatrick’s in Solvang to the Guadalupe Sand Dunes, famously associated with The Ten Commandments. It leans fully into absurdity, parody, and visual punchlines, turning heartbreak into a cinematic slapback with Naomi’s signature deadpan humor, complete with a world built from creatively crafted “pumpkins” because the fruit was out of season during filming.

Naomi shares, “I wanted the video to feel like a deadpan slapback with a little ‘Manchild’ energy — like a revenge fantasy turned road movie, but still completely in on the joke. The funniest part is that none of it was actually shot in Ireland; we built the whole world in Santa Barbara County with a truly concerning amount of fake pumpkins.”

Produced and mixed by Adam Zelkind (ASCAP award-winning songwriter/producer), the single balances modern pop precision with live, organic energy. Fiddle from Jimmy Mattingly — longtime member of Garth Brooks’ touring band and collaborator with Dolly Parton and Reba McEntire — grounds the track in authentic country muscle without sacrificing Naomi’s contemporary edge.

Pre-released on TikTok as the #PumpkinEaterChallenge and #CheaterCheater, the song quickly became a singalong anthem combining country clapback with a Gen-Z empowerment mantra. Building on the moment captured in her previous single, “IDWK,” where she leaves the party, “Pumpkin Eater” becomes the soundtrack to shouting in the car on the drive home.

Naomi shares, “I love this song because it is 100 percent me. I wrote it alone on my guitar in a matter of hours and didn’t change a word. Instead of writing a sad breakup song, I used satire as my revenge. He didn’t deserve a ballad, he deserved a slapback. I want people to feel happy. Like, I’M FREE.”

Sonically, “Pumpkin Eater” marks Naomi’s first full-on country-pop statement. Twang-tinged guitars and foot-stomping rhythms meet her soaring mezzo-soprano, blending soulful storytelling reminiscent of Joni Mitchell and Alanis Morissette with polished, hook-forward pop. Playful yet grounded in emotional truth, the song captures the perfect balance: angry-but-light, healing-but-fun.

Born in Manhattan and raised between New York City and Southern California, Naomi Jane is a classically trained three-octave mezzo-soprano and multi-instrumentalist. She pairs emotional precision with cinematic ambition, often directing her own visuals and crafting her artistic vision from the ground up. Collaborating with musicians whose résumés bridge legacy and modernity, Naomi continues to refine her genre-blending sound. Backed by 770 playlist placements and 21 million Spotify listeners, she bursts onto this next chapter with full force.
