Comedy wasn’t Neil Rubenstein’s first profession; in fact he’s lived many lives that ultimately make his comedy more compelling. Growing up in the punk rock scene of Long Island, Rubenstein was both in bands (Sons of Abraham) and tour managed them (Taking Back Sunday). He’s found himself backstage at more concerts than one could count. Having had some unusual life experiences outside of music — he ran an illegal poker room, owned a brothel, and had a stint as a gambling expert on TV — provides a solid bedrock for his stand-up, whether it be discussing celebrities he resembles, his tolerance for illicit substances, the awkwardness of traveling, or his self-awareness of having an ex-wife more attractive than him.
In 2024, Rubenstein released his one-hour, debut stand-up special, Have Some Dignity, via the legendary independent New York-based rock label Equal Vision Records. Since then, Rubenstein has been touring behind Have Some Dignity, the hilarious work of a burly, bearded and heavily tattooed man with a soft and kind delivery that plays against type for a man who “can’t sit outside a bar too long before someone hands him their ID to check.” In May 2025, Rubenstein was also selected to perform on an episode of Kill Tony, the #1 Live Podcast in the World that delivers unfiltered comedy chaos weekly to millions of viewers around the world.
