(January 16, 2026 – Santa Monica, CA) Today, Nashville-based singer-songwriter/multi-instrumentalist Iris Copperman shared “Struggle Bus” – her first single for Interscope Records. The 14-year-old artist confronts a barrage of conflicting emotions on the heartfelt track, ultimately arriving at a place of self-acceptance and strength as she concludes, “It’s rough out here / All part of growing up / All aboard the struggle bus.” Listen HERE.
“I wrote ‘Struggle Bus’ because I wanted to show love to every version of myself,” Iris Copperman explains. “The song uses the idea of a bus to show that every part of me is allowed along for the ride, even the messy or sad parts. I’ve felt a lot of different emotions, and this song helped me put them into words. It’s about having different sides to yourself and knowing that it’s okay to feel sad, cry, and then wake up and try again the next day. I hope people can feel the honesty in the song and feel accepted for exactly who they are.”
The vibrant, surrealistic official video, which was written by Copperman and directed by Jason Lester (Hozier, Ashe), takes place largely on a school bus and captures the many sides of Iris. View HERE.
With music in her DNA, Copperman began writing songs and crafting tracks at the age of five, quickly discovering a deep love for storytelling and performing as she accompanied herself on keyboards and guitar. Now, nearly a decade later, Copperman is still very young, but she has refined her creative process and developed a clear vision for her music and career.
She says, “Ever since I was a little girl there was always something about songwriting that made me so deeply happy. I would feel inspiration through small things like conversation or a word in a book and I felt this spark that is impossible to describe. There is a feeling I get when I’m sitting in my room with my guitar or at the piano – it’s my safe place. It brings me the most joy anything ever has and I have never loved anything more!”
