MYVERONICA AND FRIEND’S HOUSE SHARE SPLIT EP
LOS ANGELES BANDS JOIN FORCES
TO CAPTURE THE CAMARADERIE OF THE LA MUSIC SCENE
EP RELEASE SHOW TONIGHT AT THE FORGE IN LOS ANGELES
Los Angeles, CA bands MyVeronica and Friend’s House are excited to share their split EP Farewell Skylines, available everywhere now. Farewell Skylines includes two tracks by each band, alternating between MyVeronica’s DIY sensibilities and 90’s slowcore tones by Friend’s House. By blending early emo influences and airy, layered vocals, each song holds a certain nostalgic melancholia while maintaining the timeless charm of the California rock scene.
“‘Farewell Skylines’ is an homage to some of the seminal splits that came out of the ’90s emo scene,” bandleader of MyVeronica, Mia Lin explains. “Some of our favorite bands, like Mineral, Jimmy Eat World, Christie Front Drive, etc, collaborated on splits that marked the overlap between their bands and their shared influences. Playing in the Los Angeles indie scene, there’s so much cross pollination influencing our bands and we want to celebrate it. These are the most collaborative MyVeronica songs yet. We are embarking in a new direction, shedding some of the fuzz and mystique of our last release and carving our own sound.”
“The songs on this EP were influenced by our shared experiences of going on tour with different bands, as much as the feelings of navigating life and love as a whole,” Tristin from Friend’s House adds. “The title, which I coined and that Mia found fitting, refers to the spiritual act of saying farewell to some place and some time; moving on to new places and different times, trying to hold on to infinity in the ephemeral.”
LISTEN TO “FAREWELL SKYLINES”
Last month, MyVeronica kicked off the EP with the track “Sacred Heart” accompanied by an official self-produced music video. The video was shot in Elysian Park and is backdropped by a glimmering LA skyline, paying homage to their hometown. “Sacred Heart is a practice of vulnerability, both musical and emotional,” bandleader of MyVeronica, Mia Lin explains. “The use of clean tones and sparse arrangements cultivates an honesty that is beautiful and painfully raw. Moments of calm are interrupted by screaming guitars, echoing the volatile nature of life. This song is an expression of love, a reminder to hold on to the things that matter most. A reminder to choose love, even if it hurts.”

ABOUT MYVERONICA:
Inspired by 90’s emo, shoegaze, and alternative rock, MyVeronica began as the solo project of singer/guitarist Mia Lin. Now a four-piece band, MyVeronica is still an outlet for “exploring the deeply personal through the universal,” shares Lin. The band seeks catharsis and exorcism: accessing the deep, sensitive part of yourself that doesn’t have space in daily life.
MyVeronica embodies a DIY ethos, prioritizing authenticity and community. Formed as a group in 2021 in order to play a Halloween show, the band cut its teeth in the Los Angeles DIY scene surrounding UCLA. The band continues to play independent shows all over Los Angeles. Along with digital music releases, MyVeronica has put out tapes, multiple zines, self-produced music videos, a special edition CD, handmade merch, and more, all available on the band’s Bandcamp page and at live shows.
MyVeronica is Mia Lin (vocals/guitar), Tristin Souvannarath (guitar), Hovhannes Tamrazyan (bass), Rah Kanan (drums).
ABOUT FRIEND’S HOUSE:
Friend’s House is the alias of singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Tristin Souvannarath, one of the latest acts to emerge from a niche of introspective solo artists carved out in early 2000s LA. As much as the project serves as a candid expression of melancholia and longing, Friend’s House paints kaleidoscopic vignettes of a distinctly Californian environment where guitars evoke wind chimes, rustling palm trees, and traffic noise.
The project was first conceived in 2017 as an outlet for songwriting ideas on the side of San Diego indie surf outfit T. Rexico, evolving into a fully-fledged creative vision by 2021 after a move to LA. Performing, producing, and recording all parts by himself, Souvannarath creates a distinct sound that stands at the intersection of many genres including emo, shoegaze, slowcore, and neo-psychedelia. Despite primarily operating as a solo project, Friend’s House is accompanied live by a rotating ensemble of musicians who expand on the quiet-loud tradition of many of Souvannarath’s beloved artists.
