"This is a wonderful piece of work. Elements of prog and even dabs of psychedelia blend beautifully with trad folk on songs such as the opening "Owl Cries." It's a subtle, magnificent effort, with single Horseshoe" shining bright." - Music Connection
"The long-running Portland act returns with a new record blending folk, country, punk and experimental rock." - Bandcamp

Today Foot Ox, the long-running experimental folk project led by Teague Cullen, is excited to release their new album, A Lighthouse with Silver Dog Eyes, on Ernest Jenning Record Co. (order). The album arrives after the release of acclaimed pre-release singles "Bed Of Violets" "Bleached Yellow" and "Horseshoe" which were praised by NPR, Bandcamp, Atwood Magazine, Glide Magazine, Music Connection and more.

Formed in 2007 and emerging from the fertile Phoenix-Tempe DIY scene (home to artists like AJJ, Stephen Steinbrink, and Roar), Foot Ox has curated a distinct sound that moves between folk, punk, country, and experimental rock. A Lighthouse with Silver Dog Eyes was produced and mixed by David J at Balboa Recording Studio. The album pushes Foot Ox’s sonic palette further than ever, blending full string arrangements and an ensemble cast that includes Sean Bonnette and Preston Bryant (AJJ), Grant Berber (Sad Park), Lee Johnson (La Luz), Andrew Dorsett (Lake), Jim Rhian (Pigeon Pit), and Miriam Hacksaw (fiddle).

Written and recorded across years and life stages, A Lighthouse with Silver Dog Eyes is a meditation on burnout and belonging, anchored by Cullen’s authentic voice and rich sense of place. The album traces the moods and mythologies of the American West, shifting nimbly from hushed, intimate moments to sweeping, full-band arrangements.

Foot Ox will be performing this Saturday at Bumbershoot at 2:25 on Vera Stage. Additional shows will be announced in the coming weeks.
