Today -  June 6, 2025, Fresh off tour with 070 Shake, widely acclaimed genre-defying singer, composer, and producer Johan Lenox returns with a striking new single, Eclipse featuring boundary-pushing Kenyan-American rapper KayCyy. Speaking on the meaning behind the release, Johan shares; “This is a song about the emptiness that you feel when certain people leave, or even when they stay with you. I'm grateful to have a longtime friend and collaborator, Kaycyy, on this with me.”

This new release is a collision of two sonic visionaries. Lenox’s signature blend of cinematic, evocative vocals and avant-garde production finds a dynamic counterpoint in KayCyy’s layered, forward-thinking rap style. Together, they create a richly textured soundscape - melding jagged synths, experimental beats, and an underlying sense of urgency that feels both timely and timeless.

The new single arrives just after Lenox completed a run as the special guest on 070 Shake’s North American and UK/European headline tour. The tour was a major success, giving Johan the chance to debut new material, showcase his wide-ranging musicality, and join 070 Shake onstage to perform songs from her album, which he played a key role in creating.

Now that the tour’s wrapped, Johan is shifting focus to his upcoming body of work - an expansive, genre-blending project that highlights his unique and experimental compositional style. Eclipse marks the second chapter of Lenox’s upcoming project, following the powerful opening track When Morning Comes, which dropped earlier this year.

2025 promises to usher in a bold new chapter for Johan as he rolls out his third album, representing the tightest integration yet of his work as a composer of expansive instrumentation, a prolific pianist and a singer known for massive choralistic vocal textures. A true creative shapeshifter, Johan remains at the forefront of innovation, pushing boundaries and redefining the possibilities in contemporary music.

Wonderland - “The track opens with an atmospheric, distorted instrumental that provides an alluring backdrop for Lenox’s enigmatic vocals.”

Ladygunn - “With a strong academic background and a deep commitment to creating bold, unconventional music, Johan Lenox has emerged as one of the most daring composers and vocalists of recent years.”

ASBO - “Johan Lenox has long been a master of world-building, crafting a sonic visual universe that is simultaneously surreal and eerily familiar.”

More on Johan Lenox…

Johan Lenox is a singer, composer, and producer, who marries lush orchestral tracks with lyrics about growing up in America during the end of the world. Raised in Massachusetts, his musical output was entirely confined to the worlds of Broadway and classical music until an LSD-fueled encounter with the music of Kanye West changed his trajectory forever.

Outside of his work as a solo artist, Johan has composed and produced for people including Kanye West, Travis Scott, Teyana Taylor, A$AP Rocky and Metro Boomin, and been lauded with numerous awards for his work as a classical and musical theater composer. Johan has been a longtime collaborator with acclaimed artist 070 Shake, working together on numerous projects. In 2024, he contributed extensively to her latest album, ‘Petrichor’, and joined her onstage as the pianist and composer for that album’s listening party, A Night at the Ballet.

In 2022 Johan dropped his debut album WDYWTBWYGU and toured North America as the opener for singer 070 Shake, performing his songs alongside a violin section dressed in apocalyptic duck-hunter gear, and ending his set with 15 minutes of his own classical music as an encore. Later that year he released an album of collaborations between contemporary classical composers including Ellen Reid and Bryce Dessner with artists including Danny L Harle, Channel Tres, Danny Brown and Kacy Hill, which was highlighted in the New York Times and Pitchfork. In 2023 he toured Europe in similar fashion with prog-metal band Polyphia, and at the start of 2024, Johan released his sophomore album, the alt-tinged ‘I Guess We’ll Find Out’, marking another significant step in the evolution of his solo career.
