 -The New York Times Magazine

JUNE 30, 2025 – Charley Crockett, the GRAMMY® Award-nominated, critically acclaimed country iconoclast, will release his second album of 2025, Dollar A Day, on August 8 via Island Records. Once again joined by creative kindred spirit and GRAMMY® Award-winning co-producer Shooter Jennings, the new LP marks the second installment in The Sagebrush Trilogy, coming just five months after Lonesome Drifter, part one of the trilogy and his Island debut. Pre-order/Pre-save HERE. Watch the album trailer HERE. Swaggering lead single “Crucified Son” will be released this Thursday, July 3.

A truly singular artist who refracts various strains of American music through his incomparable prism, Dollar A Day may very well be the apex of his signature “Gulf & Western” sound to date. Like its predecessor Lonesome Drifter, Dollar A Day was recorded at the fabled Sunset Sound Studio 3 in Hollywood, CA, with Crockett and Jennings once again helming the proceedings.

“With Shooter, I’ve never felt more like myself in the studio,” explains Crockett. “I don’t feel judged. At all. It’s truly a partnership. Hell, I’d say he’s my best friend, and you can’t aspire to greatness without that kind of trust. With Lonesome Drifter, it felt like we opened the portal. With Dollar A Day, we stepped through and came out the other side.”

The Sagebrush Trilogy began back in March with Lonesome Drifter, and the initial salvo was met with a wide range of critical praise - Pitchfork says “Crockett seems both talent-wise and generationally well-placed to build a bridge between genres through the sheer force of his writing” while NPR Music says Crockett has “really effortlessly carved out his own space” - and saw Crockett notch his biggest debut on the Billboard 200 yet. Lonesome Drifter was also the #1 album sold at indie record stores across the U.S. in its first-week. In March, Crockett joined The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon for a stunning performance of Lonesome Drifter standout “Easy Money.” Watch HERE. He also stepped out in front of the iconic Austin skyline background at ACL Live at the Moody Theatre to tape his return to Austin City Limits TV for the show's upcoming 51st season in addition to appearances on CBS Mornings, The Daily Show, Jimmy Kimmel Live, NPR Music’s “Tiny Desk,” and most recently The Joe Rogan Experience where Charley first announced Dollar A Day  - listen here. Crockett has also been nominated for the 2025 Americana Honors & Awards for Artist Of The Year and Album Of The Year for Lonesome Drifter.

Crockett is currently in the middle of a stretch of headline dates that saw him return to Red Rocks last week, and in August, he will head out with longtime friend Leon Bridges on “The Crooner & The Cowboy Tour.” The tour begins August 26th in Milwaukee, WI.

ABOUT CHARLEY CROCKETT:

“Street busker turned critically acclaimed singer-songwriter turned actual country star” (Rolling Stone), Charley Crockett has never been someone who asked permission to take a shot at his dreams. Instead, the GRAMMY® Award-nominated Texas-born maverick defied the odds at every turn, tapping into a rebellious strain of country, rising from an open guitar case on a Louisiana sidewalk to selling out some of the world’s most renowned venues. Crockett has paved a singular path out of Texas, taking his home state wherever he goes and bringing his signature “Gulf & Western” sound to the world. Crockett and his music have received praise from The New Yorker, The New York Times, Pitchfork, Rolling Stone, and Variety, and garnered hundreds of millions of streams. He picked up his first GRAMMY® nod earlier this year, and in the last year alone, he notably headlined Red Rocks Amphitheater in Morrison, CO, twice, played the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles, CA, and sold out two nights at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, TN. Speaking to his impact, CBS Mornings chronicled his journey, and he’s sat down for interviews on The Daily Show and most recently The Joe Rogan Experience. Plus, he’s graced the stage for performances on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Austin City LimitsJimmy Kimmel Live!, and CBS “Saturday Sessions” in addition to playing behind NPR Music’s “Tiny Desk. With multi-GRAMMY® Award-winning Shooter Jennings as co-producer, the same unapologetic spirit, diehard work ethic, and no-nonsense honesty drive Crockett’s latest era, resulting in The Sagebrush Trilogy. Beginning with his Island Records debut Lonesome Drifter in March 2025, the trilogy continues with new album Dollar A Day, out less than five months later.
