Get ready to “bend and snap” your way into summer. Los Angeles-based DJ, songwriter, producer, and performer Disco Shrine (also known as Persian Barbie and Disco Daddy) is back with a brand-new visual spectacle.

The video for Disco Shrine’s campy club anthem, “Illegally Blonde,” has just released, and it’s already shaping up to be a breakout hit.

Inspired by the cult classic Legally Blonde, the video sees Disco Shrine locked up for committing the ultimate crime—being too blonde. With help from her “Blondetourage” and her fabulous lawyer Elle Woods, she masterminds a glamorous escape complete with stripper cops, cheeky interrogations, winks, nods, and yes, the iconic bend and snap.

“Illegally Blonde isn’t just a song,” proclaims Disco Shrine. “It’s a blonde bimbo revolution.”

Shot in Los Angeles and directed by Robbie Joseph, the video features an array of appearances from fellow artists including Vita Kari, Madelline, Cecelia Gault, Gregory Dillon, Michael Medrano, Angel Lin, Bonavega (fresh off Kesha’s last video), and Brooke Szns.

“Robbie and I were connected through mutual friends and in our initial phone call we both had so many over the top ideas,” Disco shares. “We knew we would collaborate well together. It then became a matter of what was actually possible. I always knew from the start that I wanted to feature my ‘blondetourage’ in the video.”

Illegally Blonde” was co-produced by AO Beats (Slayyter, Paris Hilton, Diplo, Heidi Montag) and Jason Hahs aka Jahs (Brooke Candy, Tomorrow X Together, Snow Wife), whose pop pedigree brings Disco Shrine’s candy-coated chaos to life with dancefloor polish and infectious attitude.

This video release marks the culmination of a whirlwind few years for Disco Shrine, having toured over 60 cities in the U.S. and Canada. Her live performances have earned her a loyal fanbase and notable opportunities. She’s performed at major festivals like GoldRush and played sold-out venues such as Webster Hall, opening for artists like Cobrah, Ninajirachi, and Matt Bennett.

Disco Shrine recently performed at LA Gives Back, a fundraiser for L.A.’s homeless, alongside major artists like Zedd and Bonobo, raising almost $50K for the cause. She has also seen her music reach new audiences with placement in a documentary about the Stonewall Riots and attention from brands like Fortnite and Snapchat. Whether she's DJing, singing live, or surrounded by drag queens and backup dancers, her shows are legendary rave-meets-runway fever dreams.

Raised in the San Fernando Valley, Disco Shrine is a Valley girl through and through. From the moment she got her driver’s license, she was driving over the hill to sneak into warehouse parties with her friends. This set the tone for what would later become Disco Shrine

Her musical journey began with debut single “Up in the Air,” a reflection on her Persian-American roots and the immigrant experience. In 2021, her first EP, xoxo, disco, marked the arrival of Persian Barbie, a striking new persona symbolized by a creative rebirth and her iconic shift to blonde hair. This culminated in the launch of "Barbie Rave"—a Barbie-pop inspired dance rave tour that took her across the country and created an unforgettable celebration of pop culture, queer empowerment, and fun.

If you like Charli XCX, Slayyter, Paris Hilton, Pink Pantheress, or old-school Gwen Stefani, you’re about to become obsessed with Disco Shrine.

So, grab your glitter and prepare for the ultimate escape. Disco Shrine and her blondetourage are coming in hot.
