“We all carry sides of ourselves that we rarely let the world see,” shares Kiesza. “People have known me for my quirkiness, my nerdiness, my carefree spirit, my retroflair, and my love of dance. But it’s my sensuality that quietly fuels my creative fire. It’s the pulse beneath the surface that allows me to shape-shift into a kaleidoscope of expression. Sexuality is deeply woven into the fabric of our reality, whether we choose to embrace it or not. I’ve never fully unleashed this part of myself, but working with Jess Cake and Sammy Virji on ‘Stays in Bed’ cracked something open. And once it opened, there was no going back. This song didn’t just mark a moment. It set the tone for everything to come and revealed a chapter I didn’t realize I was so ready to begin.”
She adds, “This volume feels like an underground dance house vibe. ‘Stays In Bed’ was the genesis of the lyrical themes. I wanted to go for it and express my mode of seduction. Everything flowed together from there. It was a very easy volume to create with everyone. It’s a volume you can lose yourself in and that was intentional. Because of my songwriter background, I have a tendency to switch vibes or genres almost daily, but this time I wanted to keep an emotion going throughout the volume and sustain it. Dancing and Crying: Vol. 2 was made with a lot of my friends present and coming in and out of the room. We also went out a bunch during the process and sometimes went back to record after being out all night.”
In support of her new music look for Kiesza to return to the road this summer as she extends her Dancing and Crying tour with Bonnie McKee. About Kiesza:
Kiesza stormed onto the scene in 2014 with her impassioned hit “Hideaway”, which has accrued over a billion streams; the accompanying one-shot video featured on several best-of-decade lists. Her debut studio album Sound Of A Woman saw her top charts globally and moved over a million units. With subsequent top-tier collaborations like Jack Ü, deadmau5 and Francis Mercier, Kiesza has managed to transition into independence with a strong and unique profile in spite of a two year hiatus forced by a car-crash. Her most recent album Dancing and Crying: Vol.1 leveraged the single ‘I Go Dance” which reached #1 on the US Dance Airplay Chart summer of 2024 and this year, Kiesza continues pushing her vision of dance music into the world full steam ahead with Dancing and Crying: Vol. 2. This era of sexy, intimate exploration of female driven house music, kicks off with “Stays In Bed”. A club focused track produced by UK breakout DJ/Producer Sammy Virji and rising producer artist Jess Cake. Crafted in Kiesza’s home studio in Toronto, “Stays In Bed” raises the pulse and drives the bedroom energy to the decks and dancefloors.
